Commercial Description:
Hoppy, crisp, and citrusy, with an underlying malt character. Made by blending lots of malted barley, wheat, and a judicious quantity of Cascade hops. A "big" beer!

Smells good but actually less hoppy than the pale. Flavor has a good hop finish but is somewhat of a disappointment after the islander.

Draft at the Pink Door in Seattle. Nose is caramel, butter, soft hops. Soft, too soft. Palate is much more assertive and the nose. Big hops, citrus and pine, more caramel and butter. okay, but the nose is such a letdown...

Bottle. Gold with a thick lasting head. Funky grain and cereal aroma with dark peppery hop notes. Very different for a IIPA. European cereal malt flavour with dark hops. I don’t get the citrus! Soft pepper but a weird IIPA.

On cask at the Jolly Roger taproom. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a big rocky white head. Aroma is dominated by citrus and pine. Flavor is sweet, and hoppy, very straight forward. Almost a straight sugary sweetness as opposed to malty. Palate is smooth and creamy, carbonation is light.

Thanks to Rorygilmore for this as an extra! My bottle says limited release on it. hmm curious. The pour. It poured with a nice 2 finger head. Really frothy head. It pours a hazy golden coler and the nose is that of WTF Crayons?? Interesting. I also get citrus, a little malt, and maybe a bit of honey on the nose. The mouthfeel on this is creamy. Its definitely an imperial pale ale. Pretty well blended. The hops on the back end really sock it to you and leaves a lasting bitterness. I would definitely drink this if I lived in the northwest. Very drinkable. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 06-16-2008 22:23:21

Not much from the bottle or on tap, but on cask at the brew pub it was phenomenal. The tap version is a bit spicy, lacking a malt backbone and with little floral character. On cask it is incredibly smooth and delicious, with everything in perfect balance. Best cask upgrade ive had, and the mussels with chorizo certainly helped as well!

This is a very good standard Imperial Pale Ale. Good flavor, but not overpowering.

Cask pour at Jolly Roger. Poured a nice golden with light cream head. Nice floral aroma and great tasting hops. However, a bit bitter and long on the finish.
