Taste was hoppy with some slight malts and some other interesting citrus notes on the palate. Overall, not a bad beer, but nothing that really stuck out that would make me want to get more of it. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 26, 2005 Bottle Pours a clear bright orange-amber honey color witha small but creamy and lsting head. Sweet light malt aroma with notes of apricots and faint citrusy hops. Flavor was hoppy and bitter up front and a bit overpowering of the nice malts that hinted in the aroma, and the relatively hight ABV was apparent,. A woody sharp aftertaste and a nice rich feel. Light orange caramel aroma.
Nice palatable concoction of caramel and citrus. A bit different, maybe lighter than a lot of IIPAs. Light, but good flavor.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 28, 2005 Clear yellowy gold appearance. Tropical fruit, fresh hop citrus aroma. Body is on the lighter side, fairly dry flavor, malt character seems pretty low. Plenty of dry hoppy bitterness and bite especially in the finish and aftertaste. From the bottle
Pours a clear light orange with a very limited head. The nose is pure grapefruit, nothing complex, with a slight off-tone whiff of detergent that grows stronger and more bothersome as one progresses through the glass. The flavor follows suite - straightforward, with nice bitter hops but little complexity beyond that. The mouthfeel is a little thin with a late alcohol burn. Plenty drinkable and easy going down (especially for a 7.5%), and plenty well able to leave your mouth watering for more.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 25, 2005 This beer pours a clear golden color with a very thin soapy white head and little islands of lacing here and there. The aroma is piney, citrusy and very expected...nothing spectacular, but definitely solid. The flavor is full-bodied and it definitely explodes in your mouth. Highly carbonated beer which unleashes a torrent of bittering pine in the mid-sip but let out more caramel and citrusy sweet flavors as the beer warmed and progressed. Finish is dry, piney and mostly acetic...definitely crisp and abrupt. Could potentially be a palate killer with it being so bitter, so be warned. MrDick (277), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2005 Bottle - I drank through half the glass without realizing it was an imperial pale ale, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your preference. I’m a hop junkie, which this ale certainly lacks but it does a good job of hiding the high ABV in the sweet malt flavor. If you’re looking for west coast over-the-top-hop IPAs, then go somewhere else. But if you want an IPA that’s easy to drink with a good alcohol kick, this is the one.
