Commercial Description:
Hoppy, crisp, and citrusy, with an underlying malt character. Made by blending lots of malted barley, wheat, and a judicious quantity of Cascade hops. A "big" beer!

Bottle. Even though it is quite simple I love the bottle artwork. Pours a pale gold color with a nice white head on top. Aroma is hoppy with grassy and citrusy notes. The hops are met with a caramel malt aroma. Flavor is mostly grapefruit flavored hops with hints of pine as well. The beer starts off with a sweet caramel taste going into the grapefruit/pine flavors. The beer ends with a hoppy bitterness. No hints of alcohol content show up at all. An enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Light clear amber pour with a frothy white head, leaving spotty lacing. Big aromatic hop nose- peach, pineapple, citrus, over light caramel malt. Sweet light caramel flavor complimented by a nice infusion of citrusy cascades. A bit syrupy, with a piney and somewhat soapy finish. Lightly carbonated. Pretty decent ’big’ IPA, though not quite among the best.

Pours a deep orange with a medium-sized off-white head. The aroma is very hoppy with pine and flowers. The aroma also contains some notes of crystal malts and caramel. The flavor follows the aroma, although the flavor is balanced more on the malty end than is the aroma. The flavor is malty with caramel (perhaps some diacetyl) and has a firm but smooth hop flavor and bitterness with a piney, floral tone. The mouthfeel is quite smooth and creamy for the strength.

Bottle: Pours a dark golden color, slightly hazy. Thin White head. Very citrusy hoppy juice aroma. Flavor is light malt, high bitterness with lots of citrus floral hops in the bitterness. Cirsp and alcoholic. Pretty good.

Had this on tap at Summit Public House in Capital Hill in Seattle. Had a pitcher, actually. You can definitely taste that there’s a high ABV. Very hoppy, and really crisp. A nice blond color to it, and the head was out of control good.

8/15/2007: Maritime Pacific Limited Release Imperial Pale Ale is cloudy yellow-orange in appearance. The short, frothy off-white head leaves behind lots of fine, delicate lacing. The aroma has a slight butter toffee maltiness with a nice dose of tangerine and soft pine hoppiness. The flavor is stong. There is a good malt base that doesn’t interfere with the substantial, yet controlled level of floral and pine bitterness. However, is a bit of soapiness about mid-palate and some grassy hoppiness toward the finish that I would rather not be there but this beer is still pretty good overall. The body of this beer is medium to medium-full and feels smooth and slightly creamy on the palate. "Imperial Pale Ale" describes this beer well. It is like a strong Pale Ale that is quite bitter, but not quite enough of eaither to really make it a true Imperial IPA.

12 fl. oz. bottle sent to me by bitbucket. Thanks Bob! Rating #65 for this beer...

On tap at WABL Fathers Day BrewFest 2008. Pours hazy dark gold with a lacy white head. Aroma of pine and citrus. Some fruit in the taste. Medium body and light carbonation. Dry piney finish.
