carruthm (365), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours really dark for an amber, an opaque brown that absorbs light. Leaves a thin tannish head with good lacing. Aroma of deep malt with a nice bitter taste. Solid finish, but nothing in particular stands out.
robforbes (709), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 6, 2008 purchased at wine a little in port orchard, washington.
pours dark with a red tint, thin tan head, some lacing.
smell is rag weed, slight roasted malt, cocoa, touch of spice.
taste is malt, thick, caramel, slight cocoa, touch of hops, Funknmilla (515), Absecon, New Jersey, USA Mar 27, 2008 Draft at the Wild Rose...Dark ass brown....small foam on the pour....a little cocoa in the aroma...nice mild effervescence...nice easy going body....metallic smoky presence in flavor...a little roasted toasted presence of malts....sweet subtle maple and cocoa....coffee notes throughout aroma and flavor....so, mild, so easy to drink....very reminiscent of a porter RblWthACoz (959), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 2, 2008 Pours extremely dark with a very dark ruby color to it. Whatever head is there after a very firm pour quickly goes away. Nose is firm wood, nut, and caramel. Lots of deep red wood mostly though. Flavor is a faint, but noticeable nut on top of a robust leafy and woody character with a strongly pronounced sweetness. Feel is fairly syrup like on the liquid and low on the carbonation. Overall very drinkable. A good brew. A bit lacking it seems in certain areas, but still pleasurable. Bier brauen (139), Bremerton, Washington, USA Dec 12, 2007 Dark amber and reddish. Thin lacing, thin body with malt sweetness taste. Good carbonation.
