COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark amber in color, Nightwatch is smooth and mellow with a subtle roast flavor and gentle hopping from Mt. Hood and Saaz hops. A true Northwestern original-style ale.

Clear dark copper with some slight haze. Thin light vanilla head. Very very light carbonation. Light roasted aroma, some chocolate notes. Medium bodied. Earthy and sharp with a black malt huskiness. Roasted and burnt chocolate malt flavors. Light crispness. Finishes a little weaker in flavor and just...eh. Not an impreeive brewery so far.

Pint on tap at the Wild Rose. Pours brown with amber tints and a good head. Aroma is malty with notes of toffee, dark chocolate, bread and nuts. Flavor is smooth with emphasis on malts. Tastes nutty with mild roasty qualities and a biscuity finish. I am shocked to see this is an amber ale. I guessed brown ale or even brown porter.

On tap at Galway Arms on the ave in the U district. Appearance was pretty dark but not thick. Carbonation present, and a tiny head. I thought it was interesting that the head seemed to grow as time went on. There’s a nice lacing as well. Aroma was sweet and almost milky. Lot’s of fruit presence, both sweet and dark. Honey and caramel. Taste wasn’t at all what the aroma leads you to believe, it’s a bit bland and pretty heavy carbonation. It seemed a bit too bitter for my liking. Palate was decent. Pretty drinkable. Lots of carbonation, but there’s little lasting tastes. Overall its something I would have to be in the mood for. It’s not bad but it’s nothing great either. It’s like the girl you see, think she’s pretty and start to talk to her, and you realize there’s nothing about her that interests you besides her looks.

Tap @ Jolly Roger Taproom. Amber brown appearance with an off white head. Toasty, toffee, caramel, espresso nose. Slightly roasty, toasty, toffee, light espresso, caramel malty flavor. Another solid one by these guys.

On tap at the brewrey on 8-4-10. A dark amber to brown color. This beer has potential. It is malty, balanced bitter, touches of toasty/roast character and a touch of hops. Not too bitter without being overly sweet or caramely. I found it to be a bit muddy in that the beer seemed unfocused. Not a bad session ale, but not completely memorable as well.

Bottle from Bottleworks. Pours rather cola color with a foamy beige head. Aroma is light roast malt, light meaning not a lot, but the roast is pretty dark. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is not quite burnt malt with a good dose of floral/grassy hop. Finishes burnt malt bitter. Not harsh, just burnt. Seems to get a lot of floral in the finish. Really good.
