Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2007 Golden colour. Rich saaz nose, with hints of pale malts. The flavour is thin on the malts, but yet they impact the mouthfeel a bit anyway. Hop bitterness is moderate. It lacks the voluptuous tang of the best Czechs but its a solid, refreshing American example. argo0 (6167), Washington DC, USA Jul 26, 2004 (draft) Sparkling straw body. Aroma is medium sweet, dough, caramel, light grassy. Taste is moderately sweet, dough/cereal, light grassy, caramel. Light-medium body, some crispness. duff (5404), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Jun 24, 2004 Tap@The Jolly Roger. Grainy and thin, some saaz, but this was pretty typical of microbrewed lagers in the NW, pretty tame, and not much happening. Maybe i missed something as others have rated it much higher, but i didn’t see much in this one. BückDich (4540), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 6, 2004 Straw yellow with tons of lacing & white head. The aroma is watery, bland. The flavor has some citrus & 2-row. Watery, bland, flavorless, not thought provoking. motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Dec 26, 2004 on tap at the jolly roger. someone should tell some american brewers that pilsners don’t have to be bland. pretty anonymous malt character, just some cardboard flavour and plain flour. egad
