UPDATED: NOV 20, 2006 Bottle... Hazy, orange ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Spotty lacing. The nose is of light chocolate, toffee and caramel with a light note of lemon. Decently balanced flavor, but leans toward the malt with notes of clover honey, toffee and straw. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Lengthy, mildly sweet, straw finish.

On tap, Taming of the Brew 2006. Poured a hazy copper with a small white head that faded quickly. Aroma is of light grainy malt with minimal hoppy notes and a little butter. Flavor is very buttery with grainy malt, some alcohol, and a little bit of toasted malt. Body was thin with moderate carbonation. I’m wondering what’s wrong with these guys. Three of the four beers that I had from them at this beerfest were all buttery tasting. I can understand maybe an off batch of one beer, but not three different beers.

Draft at the brewpub. Clear amber with a lasting disc of creamy foam. Nose is spicy caramel and light citrus. Taste is spicy caramel, grass and a hint of orange. Light-medium body has medium carbonation and is fairly well balanced.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours copper with nice lacy ivory head. The aroma is very bready, with biscuit, butter, mild flowers. The flavor is densely biscuity with quite a bit of honeyish sweetness. It has a sweet, lingering finish.

whaleman (2176) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 9, 2004
Served on cask at Market Cross Pub. Clear reddish-copper body and small creamy head. Aroma of fresh crystal malt and moderate spicy/earthy hops. Crystal malt flavor with a brown sugar quality and a big fruity, chocolate note. Medium bodied with low to moderate residual sweetness. Not just another amber/red ale, this is far from run-of-the-mill and very nice.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy orange, nice off-white head. Fruity hoppy aroma, touch of carmel. Malty w/carmel notes and a nice hoppy finish. Hop flavors are nice but gentle. This is a real nice red.

This was a pretty decent brew. Had a nice hint of hops to it. Aftertaste was a bit dry, fairly smooth.

axilla (962) - New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 8, 2006
cask @ brewery. Poured a slightly hazy red/orange color with a small, sticky off-white head. Somewhat earthy hop nose with a little grapefruit. Flavors were malty with some sugars and a good bit of grapefruit, fresh cut grass, and mild funk in the finish. The cask version was a bit better than the regular tap.
