3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Brigadier (1940) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - MAR 13, 2012
On tap at brewpub
This is a solid and well planned IPA. With a good mix of hops and other textures it provides enough to maintain interest without completely demolishing the palate after a few sips. These are the sort of beers that keep a place in business.
Aroma / Appearance - Lazy idle carbonation looked like it was enjoying the trip out of the glass. A minimal wisp of head was all that remained of a previous layer of coverage. The golden opaque body was a blend of lemons, oranges, and polished wood after a dusting. Despite the presence of the hops the malts also mark their territory.
Flavor / Palate - Refreshing with a bitterness that grows over time, the first impression is of citrusy hops. It warms the back of the throat as it transitions to a splash of lemonade, oak, and ground up lilies. Two pints might be my limit but I would enjoy every minute.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 lushawn (2242) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 25, 2011
Tap. Notes of herbal resiny hops with a touch of earthy tropical fruits and ruby red grapefruit. Tasty. Like.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dogbrick (4842) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 3, 2011
Sample at the brewpub. This brew pours a clear copper-amber color with a medium bone white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Floral hops in the nose plus some sweet malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character that has floral and citrus notes. Sweet malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a citrus aftertaste. Above average overall.
