Growler from the brewery, February 24th, 2007. This puppy was listed as 11.5% on the board at the brewery, the recipe may have changed, I will check on this next time I am there. Pours a nearly opaque muddy brown with a dense, medium-sized tan head. Lots of caramel and molasses in the nose, along with dark fruits and alcohol. Earthy, peaty, and sweet, with a nice, slightly fruity twang. Hops bitterness seems subdued until it hits the back of the throat in the finish. Slick and creamy on the palate, very full-bodied. A solid effort, dangerously drinkable. Yep, this one is 11.5% alright.

Dark brown with a white head. Aroma was dark malt. Was a dark malt flavor with a bitter bark finish.

An excellent, high powered sotch ale. Pours a dark brown in the glass with plenty heavy white head with nice lacing. At the nose the aroma is that of dark caramel and malt. Much the same in the flavor with an increasing malt character throughout the palate. Finish was extremely smooth with some liht alcohol burn. The beer was a special on tap when I walked into the brewpub on May 2, 2006. Recommended.
