3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thought this was JHB? Last sampled for breakfast on the back seat of a National Express between Heathrow and Gatwick. This bottle back to back with a Kernel. Slim-lidded lager gold wafting with pine, white musk and mandarin handwash, boiled flowers. Decent sweet brittle (lightly buttered) pine, lime and crackers flavour possibly mildly damaged by bottling. Buttery grass bitterness and lime finish. I probably shouldn’t but prefer this to the Kernel.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle (M&S, Tallinn) - thanks Marduk!
Amazingly marmaladey aroma, grapefruit and other citrus zest. Touch malty too, but it’s a bit thin. Flattish palate, gently sweet. Simple but tasty pale bitter. A bit papery. Drying finish, long and dusty, a bit earthy chalky, but still a bit sweet too. Adequate for the strength, but a bit thin.

Hazy yellow, small white head. Nose is spicy hops, malt, some sweet hints, grass, citrus. Tate is hoppier than the taste would suggest, bitterness, some malt, grassy tones. Lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Thin to almost-medium body, medium carbonation, watery palate. Thin, but very drinkable and refreshing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle. Pours slightly hazy amber with a very small white head. Aroma is astringent and earthy. Flavours of citrus, vanilla, grass, floral notes and a moderate bitter finish. Carbonation is light and fine, mouthfeel is thin. Brewed by Oakham, this is decent but not up to the standard of most of their other offerings.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Marks & Spencer St Pancras. Clear pale gold lasting white head. Some yeast on the aroma. Some ok citrus flavour in the mouth. A well balanced and good drinking golden ale with enough biting hop on the finish to make it interesting. It’s fine and slightly better than average.
