COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, Regular;
The Cambridgeshire Golden Ale is brewed with a blend of English Challenger and American Mount Hood hops, balanced by East Anglian Maris Otter malt. Dry hopping before bottling gives a burst of flavour on the palate and a subtle bitterness that lingers beautifully.
Ingredients: water, barley malt (Maris Otter), wheat malt, hops (Challenger, Mount Hood), yeast, carbon dioxide.

Bottle. Light gold with a white foam. Aromas are marmalade with toast malts and nice fresh grassy notes. Jammy with candy sugar and mellow grapefruit. Flavours are sweet, jammy lemon and apricot with a fairly restrained grapefruit and lemon bitterness to finish low toast malts with some residual sugar. A decent hoppy brew.

Un goût franc et marqué de noisette et de malt, une bière de caractère vraiment anglaise.

Bottle BBE: 09.15. Well-chilled. Pours a clear golden body with a medium, tight, creamy white head. Zesty nose predominantly of lemon with a little pine. A medium, slightly floral sweetness is followed up by a medium bitterness. Nicely-balanced and crisp. Light-medium bodied with a smooth texture, medium-low carbonation and a lasting finish. Nothing out of the ordinary, but a staple beer done very well.

Bottle from M&S New Oscott; clear straw yellow pour with a thin white head, aroma has fresh lemon, taste has lemon, a hint of pine, some grapefruit, very clean crisp and refreshing, it’s easy to mock goldes but this is well crushable.

500 ml bottle bought at M&S in iSquare, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Looks: Translucent light golden honey colour; One-and-a-quarter finger head with soapy white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and fairly fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant Ale malt, with strong orange, grapefruit, strong floral, toffee, cinnamon, honey, biscuits, yeast, lemon and sharp grass.

Taste: Mid to light sweet light Ale malt, with moderate tartness, light orange, light grapefruits, very light caramel, molasses, yeast, light spices, strong lemon, strong bitter hops and sharp grass.

Body: Mid to light. Fairly slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Good Ale malt base with fairly strong wheaty tartness. Orange and citrusy hops dominates, any sweetness is offset by Challenger’s lemony bitterness. Expressive and colourful throughout. Great!

Hoppiness Orange, grapefruit, strong floral, toffee, cinnamon, honey, lemon and sharp grass; in nose. Orange, grapefruit, spices, strong lemon and strong grass in taste. Bitterness is head strong for a lasting, strong astringent grassy finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry. Citrusy and strong bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one is expressive, with Challenger hops in abundance for some very nice orangy aroma and impressive bitter taste. No kitchen sink being thrown in as Mount Hood seems to take a back seat, but bold and expressive nevertheless. An excellent Golden Ale!

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the M&S on Oxford St. Pours crystal clear yellow-gold, lightly effervescent, with a frothy white head. Bready, crackery malts in the nose, some lemon rind, dough, hay. Light-medium sweet flavor with dry and crispy crackers, more bitter hay, slight grass. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with lightly sugary biscuits, moderate bitterness hay and grass, sun-kissed cereal, lemon rind. Interesting stuff. Pretty drinkable overall.
