A decent chocolate porter but nothing exceptional. Mild grain, caramel and chocolate smell with chestnut appearance - not as dark as most porter’s I’ve had. The taste is quite bitter at the start which then rounds off with roasted malt and milk choclate at the back end. A thin and dry mouthfeel which actually masks the 6% abv very well. Probably best to have with a rich pudding.

Bottle. Pours chesnut in colour with low head. Aroma is dark chocolate coffee. Taste is dark bitter chocolate, cardamom and malts. Palate not creamy enough, otherwise nice beer for dark chocolate lovers.

Pours a white head with light aromas of roasted malt. Amber to brown colored see through body. Important carbonation helps hiding a light but unpleasant taste of root. Couldn't feel the chocolate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from m&s. Copper with cream coloured head. Aroma is milk chocolate and roasty malts. Taste a bit bland, slighty sweet and bitter. A bit watery and fizzy for a porter.

Purchased from the local M & S. A pale copper colour, the palest porter that I have ever seen. Chocolate aromas. The taste is sweet and dominated by chocolate flavours. Not much roasted malt. The chocolate taste is strange, a little stale tasting. The finish is very short, with little in the way of lingering taste. The initial taste is better than the finish, making this beer slightly disappointing. Not really a porter, more like a chocolate-flavoured light bitter.

500ml bottle from M&S. Pours dark red rather than black like a porter usually does. Smells of cocoa powder. Initially tastes of nice chocolate but it soon starts to taste artificial. Quite a bad, sour, alcohol finish. Excellent start but bad finish.

500ml bottle from M&S, the Gyle, Edinburgh. Pours clear copper (?), nice off-white head. Aromas are cocoa powder, creamy sweet. Slightly artificial. Taste is far to sweet. This is like an Alcopop. Chocolate flavoured drink barely related to beer.

Small frothy beige head, recedes after a while to a thin layer, light lacing; aroma sweet malty, cocoa, milk chocolate, hint of vanilla; taste moderate sweet, light bitter, milk chocolate, some toffee; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; finish dry bittersweet, earthy notes.
