A decent chocolate porter but nothing exceptional. Mild grain, caramel and chocolate smell with chestnut appearance - not as dark as most porterís Iíve had. The taste is quite bitter at the start which then rounds off with roasted malt and milk choclate at the back end. A thin and dry mouthfeel which actually masks the 6% abv very well. Probably best to have with a rich pudding.

I bought this bottle during one of my trip in Paris, in a Mark and spencer, supermarket. I was disappointing with this product and it is not a real chocolate porter. First the body is brown and transparent, it is not a color of porter. After the taste is in the mouth bad and boring. There is a bad mix between bitterness and chocolate aroma but it is not well balanced. I did not finish this beer.

500ml bottle. Clear, dark brown, but not as dark as Iíd expect of a porter. Aroma is sweet synthetic chocolate. Taste is... odd. Like a bitter with added chocolate syrup. Not good

500ml bottle. Dark brown and transparent, with a thin white head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Carbonated, somewhat lacking in chocolate flavour; dominated by aspirin bitterness. Odd overtones of glass and cap rubber.

500ml bottle. Reddish brown coloured porter. Off white head, small amount of lacing. Aroma is fruity malt and chocolate. Lightly bitter aftertaste but predominantly sweet in terms of taste. Quite nice but was hoping for better. Not really a porter for me.

500ml bottle purchased from Marks & Spencer, Paisley. Sampled on the 25th December 2015. Poured into a pint tumbler. Clear tawny in colour with a thin white head. Cheap chocolate syrup noted in the malty aroma. Thin watery mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts give a chocolate sponge base note with very little else going on. Hard to get any hops noted in the short aftertaste due to the overpowering sweetness. Finish is malty and sweet with THAT cheap chocolate syrup flavour seeping its way in again. Is this really 6%? Lacking in body and complexity. Got to be one of the poorest bottled porters out there - alongside M & S London Porter of course! Bring back Adnams Tally Ho! please.

500ml bottle at home, from Marks & Spencer, High Street, Ayr (bb 31 Jul 2015), roasted malty, chocolate aroma, deep amber, brown with a ruby tint and a thin, creamy head, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, a bit thin and watery.

500 ml bottle, served in snifter glass. Poured a chestnut brown with a one finger tan head. I expected something different for a Porter.Very light aromas of some milk chocolate and vanilla and something that I rather not drink. Taste is also some artificial chocolate, vanilla, and just some awefully tasting malts. Very, very bitter. I will not finish this and throw the rest through the sink where this belongs.

F: small, beige, quick gone. C: brownish to dark red, clear, transparent. A: malt, chocolate, caramel, hint of cherries. T: 0,5l bottle, malty, caramel, artificial milk chocolate, some cherries sweetness on the palate, mild bitterness, medium body, above average carbonated, bad coloured for this style, quite artificial taste but itīs pasteurised and made for supermarket so what to expect :)
