A decent chocolate porter but nothing exceptional. Mild grain, caramel and chocolate smell with chestnut appearance - not as dark as most porter’s I’ve had. The taste is quite bitter at the start which then rounds off with roasted malt and milk choclate at the back end. A thin and dry mouthfeel which actually masks the 6% abv very well. Probably best to have with a rich pudding.

Bottle. Brown color. Hazelnuts, caramel and chocolate in the aroma. Malty sweet, nutty soft roasty flavor with caramel and chocolate. Roasty finish. Maybe a bit sticky.

Maakun (329) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAR 29, 2014
Clear reddish brown with medium off-white head. Earthy, cardboard, moldy bread, chalk, a hint of roasted malts and sweet chocolate syrup. Not much taste actually, light sweet maybe with a hint of chemical bitterness in the finish. Thin bodied, watery feel. The moldy notes are very off-puting, but the rest is not much better. Very bad.

the head makes it somewhat ok to look at. has that milky/chocolate aroma. Watery chocolate milk that has too much water and too little artificial chocolate powder. Really thin, not very good. Bottle from the M&S Amsterdam.

Countbeer (4072) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - MAR 23, 2014
Bottle: Served in a shaker glass: Beige foamy head on top of a clear amber brown colored beer. Aromas of malts, nuts, toast, milk chocolate, light soap and a sprinkle of something chalky. Flavour is quite full on milk chocolate and there’s mats, toast, bread, some dried leaves, some chalk, bitter and light herbal... Aftertaste is bitter, malty, some chocolate and a hint of herbs woth some toast. Low to medium carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy texture. Quite boring, but easy drinker and it’s not that terrible, just a load of malts.

worldbeertaste (1551) - AUSTRIA - FEB 26, 2014
Deep copper with a tan frothy, lacy, thin, lasting head. Smells of chocolate extract, liquorish, and a bit of soil. Earthy. Medium to full frothy body. Tastes of chocolate extract with a vanilla and a chocolate extract finish. A bit of chemical too. Not too nice. As a porter this is a full fail.

Bottle from M&S, Den Haag. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is all chocolate. The flavour is medium bitter light sweet with a chocolate, toffee bittersweet slightly watery hop bitter palate with a short hop bitter light metallic finish. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Not too bad, but more like a premium ESB with chocolate!
