Warning! Early amateur rating! Startingly fruity from the Orange oils. A hint of bitterness. Good for a few mouthfuls but that’s it! Just too heavy with the oily fruit and host of spices!

500ml bottle. Pours hazy dark brown and flat as hell, no head to speak of. Aroma is cheap cola, nutmeg and lots of rum. Generic Chirstmas spice to start. Some cheap coke and nutmeg on the finish. Flat and lifeless, bad bottle? Just no palate at all. Sort it out and this could be a nice beer. As it is, it’s pretty shit awful.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2011 Bottled. A chestnut coloured beer with no head. The aroma is big and spicy with cinnamon and clove. More spices in the mouth especially clove, with star anise coming through also. The base beer is reasonable. Spice is strong but never too much, although you wouldn’t session this. Score 3.4

Sweet spicy aroma - christmas cake and bubblegum. A touch sweet and sticky, but not overspiced fortunately.

Bottled (from random Marks & Spencer, London). Reddish amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is fruits, spices, lots of fruity bubblegum notes. Flavour is mainly fruity bubblegum along with some slight notes of herbs and spices. Not very pleasant at all.

Bottle from Marks & Spencer. Dark brown colour, off-white head. Aroma is malty, with spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg and clove are well distinctable. Flavour is malty, citric and spicy. Vaguely resembling a doppelbock, and reminds me of Sinterklaas. Well done.

Bottle. Brown and clear.Lots of spices that take over. Pleasant but too much like a novelty beer for me, and not too be taken too seriously.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2009 2007, ahem, vintage BB May 2008 but drank tonight, 6.7%, completely different to the beer pictured, but so similar in description I’m sticking it here. I’ve been avoiding this one for a long, long time, but the time has come. Clear chestnut with little bits swirling in it, and a rocky beige collar lacing thickly. Ridiculous unbeery aroma of Tizer, gingerbread, Jagermeister and..well, the ’punch’ we used to make at university by tipping random bottles of vodka, gin, Southern Comfort, lemonade and orange juice together in a plastic storage box. It tastes like fruit punch, chai, sangria,Tizer, toothpaste, Jagermeister, bubblegum and regurgitated orange juice...so mulled, strange, excessively spiced and subtly boozy I actually wish I’d saved it for Xmas. Bit of a nasty sweetener-like aftertaste, but the alcohol is murderously well concealed. Bizarre, OTT, nothing like beer, possibly improved by a couple of years under the stairs, and enjoyable. I think. ONLY 190 SHOPPING DAYS TO GO....
