This bottle conditioned ale has been uniquely brewed using locally grown Cornish gold malt, traditionally malted using a special kilning process to develop a deep bronze colour and intense flavour. The sweet, lightly nutty malt balances well with zesty orange and spicy aromas from the hops.

Bottle at home. Clear sunset amber pour, almost orange head. Aroma is quite malty, toffee, nuts, subtle raisins, marmelade and a hint of licorice. Flavor is quite bitter, smooth and clean. Well balanced and very clean brew.

Bottle from Marks and Spencer, Enniskillen [290415]
Reddish brown, clear, little head
Aroma of soft light sweet fruits, orange, red berries, fruity caramel malts
Taste of fruity caramel, red berries, soft caramelised orange, soft spicy hedgerow hops, touch of yeast, quite a rich flavour, not keen on the soft mineral note
Palate - Very soft carb, medium body, smooth, soft sweet. Finish of soft fruity malts, that mineral note again
Overall - Like the fruity caramel malts in this, easy going, above average

500ml bottle from M&S, the Gyle, Edinburgh. pours dark copper brown, thin ring of off-white head. Dark fruit aromas, sweet, light biscuit notes. Taste is red fruit, light nuttiness, maybe some light citrus, but bitter orange at the back, nothing more. Too fizzy, but OK.

Bottle from the Broadmead, Bristol branch as part of a 6 UK beers for Ł10 deal, which proved to be excellent value. Copper coloured with a big, frothy, off-white head. Hedgerow hops, some biscuity malts, a hint of citrus and lengthy, bitter finish. Good.

Bottle from M&S Den Haag. Clear deep copper pour with quickly vanishing white head. Aroma of toasted malt, wet grassy hoppy notes and figs. Taste is sweet, toasted caramel, figs and dates with a nice bitter grassy finish. A really nice blend of English malts and hops, really quite tasty. Palate is medium I didn’t have any expectations but bought it on the basis that the other beers I had were ok. This was pretty good.

Bottle from M&S Den Haag. Poured a clear medium amber with a very thin broken white head. The aroma is sweet hop malt. The flavour is medium bitter light sweet with a tropical fruit malt light hop palate and a short bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Nice and refreshing but a little sweet for me.
