Bottle Conditioned. A perfect match for.. Shellfish, beef sausages & onion gravy, Lancashire hot pots or simply try with paté and warm toast. One of the great British styles "Mild" Originally meant a beer that hand’t aged. Today, as its name suggests, mild means lightly hopped and not bitter. Dark Milds get their rich colour from caramel and roasted malts and although relatively low in alcohol, are full in body with a lingering quality. Daniel Thwaites knows a think or two about brewing a great mild. Specially brews for M&S, the same craft and award-winning expertise has been used to create this lovely Lancashire mild for you.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, red-brown with a small, receding tan head. Dark, doughy bread in the nose, dark sugars, some dark fruits. Light sweet flavor, some milky chocolate, light burnt malts, some dirt, dry raisins. Light bodied with average carbonation. Fairly sweet finish, dark toasted malts, light earthy bitterness. OK, but a little watery.

Bottled, 500ml from Marks & Spencer in Banbury. Dark brown with fizzed cream head. Sweetish, caramel led beer, thin on the palate, there is a brittle toffee burnt note along with a plummy fruit character. A little too bland.

Bottle at home, from M&S Cardinal Place, a decorating break on 08/03/14. Dark mahogony brown with reddish hues and a well appointed tan head that gradually slips into the ether. Nose is toffee, brown bread, nutty twang, dark fruit notes. Taste comprises rich cake mix, tobacco, leather, dark fruit, nutty, light roast. Medium to light bodiment, moderate carbonation, drying close. Solid mild, good depth to the taste on this one.

Donkerbruine kleur met een volle blijvende crème kraag. Ruikt mout, grbrand, hop. Smaakt wat vlak. Iets zoetig en bitter, craramel en fruit.

Bottled; Mild and I mean God damn Mild , yeah its meant to be subtle .Carmel and roastiness. Deep brown and beige lookin’ . The volume should be turned up , too watery and thin . Subtly doesnt have to mean low on flavour.

500ml bottle from Marks & Spencer, Ayr - brown ale, very thin head, caramel malty aroma, hint of fruit, no lacing, sweet, caramelly, high carbonation detracts from the flavour a little, fruity malty aftertaste

500ml bottle. Dark black-brown colour, frothy tan head leaving some lacing and aroma of berry fruits, malty & earthy. Taste is sweetish dark malt, fruity, with raisins, slight chocolate & earthy notes. Watery light bodied, soft to medium carbonation, sourish dry mild finish. Quite OK.

McWorta (1530) - LUXEMBOURG - OCT 27, 2013
A fizzy mahagony brown, dark ruby read coloured mild with a small tan head. On the nose aromas of walnuts, roasted malts, wet leaves and light soy develop. Light fizzy on the palate with a light slick texture. Medium bodied beer light bitter and light sweet taste. Finish is a bit watery and too fast for my liking.

Bottle conditioned. Large off white head. Deep mahogany to black with reddish tinges. Good head retention. Nose is plum, red fruit, grass, black malt, spice. Bittersweet. Dry finish. Subtle sparkling mouthfeel in the best kind of bottle conditioned way. Refreshing. A little watery. Very North Western.

50cl Bottle from M&S A'dam. Dark brown to black colour, beige head. Faint aroma of roast, nuts, hint of berries. Flavour is the same, but all very faint, with a hint of coffee. Watery, light-bodied. Weaker version of the Nutty Black?
