500ml bottle. Smoky smell with hints of coco. Nearly black in appearance with an off white head. The taste is bitter, malty, treacle, chocolate, caramel and coffee. The mouth feel is heavy and thick even slightly chewy you could say. Overall a good example of the style and woth a try.

Bottle from M and S. Appearance - dark brown with red chinks. A nice off white head. Nose - chocolate, cream and light roast. Taste - some chocolate bit malt roast is definitely predominantly what’s going on. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - I’d say this is more like a stout than a porter but maybe the old recipe is the explanation for that.

500 ml Bottle from Mark & Spencer, Luton
Kolor ciemnobrązowy z pięknymi rubinowymi refleksami. Piana ładna, beżowa, wysoka, nieźle okala ścianki szkła. W aromacie klasycznie: kawa, czekolada, ciemne owoce, spora nuta paloności. W smaku mocno czekoladowe, kawowe z ciemnymi owocami. Tekstura lekka w kierunku średniej, lekkie w degustacji. Całkiem przyzwoity angielski porter.

Bottle of 50cl, in a Guinness glass; room-temperature. Dark and red beer, middle clear. The aroma is a coffee one, with a taste of milk-coffee...Usual, with a very little aftertaste.

Very dark red-brown with a lasting fine head and aromas of cocoa and roasty coffee. Creamy-dry with more coffee, lightly burnt chocolate and a mild dry bitterness.

Kolor brązowy, piana drobnopęcherzykowa dość obfita, lekko zdobi szkło, w aromacie nuty czekoladowe, karmelowe, palone, w smaku podobne zestawienie, piwo poprawne, w stylu, brak jakiegoś szczególnego elementu które skłaniałoby mnie do wypicia go jeszcze raz ...

Dark brown (quite light for a porter), medium beige head. Aroma is acidic, some roasted malts. Taste gets better: caramel (a lot), roasted malts, smoked notes, coffee. Highly carbonated, very malty, medium-light body and a pleasant dry finish. Not a bad porter.

500ml bottle purchased at Marks & Spencer in Paisley. Poured into a pint tumbler and sampled on the 25th December 2015. Clear garnet in colour with an off white head. Slight malt in the aroma with a note of chocolate powder. Thin insipid mouthfeel and no lacing. Mixed malt complex gives maltloaf base with notes of roast grain, toffee malt and dark chocolate. Dried hay note to the bitter aftertaste which rather spoils the malt. Finish is malty with a dry finish from the wheat which lingered far too long in the palate. A poor porter and very disappointing. Lacks strength body and complexity - tastes more like 3.8%, Better sticking with Orkney Dark Island than trying this guff stuff. SAB Miller - hang your heads in shame!

F: pale brown thin, quick gone. C: dark brown to dark red, clear. A: roasted malt, dried fruit, coffee, chocolate. T: 0,5l bottle, roasted malt, smoked tones, wood, dried fruits, mild bitterness, slick texture, medium body, average carbonated, watery but taste is better than expected as it is brewed for supermarkets chain, very drinkable.

Very nice Porter. Has a great refreshing texture and a nice aroma of chocolate.
