Cold fermented at the Meantime Brewery for Marks & Spencer.
This London Porter is brewed in Greenwich, using no fewer than seven malts to recreate a historic recipe from the 1750s for a style of beer that was once synonymous with London.

Bottle at Pre ZBF 2010. OK so I didn’t bring anything too exciting to the tasting, but it was on the floor whilst I was packing so it got into the bag. Chestnut colour, thin beige head. Dry porter aroma. Pretty decent dryness. Nice enough malts.

Bottle at Jack’s Sausage Celebration - London. Pours mostly clear brown with a moderate, frothy off-white cap. Very good stuff on the whole. Nice burnt sugars, burnt toast, some bready malts, tosted brown sugar, modest earthy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Fair burnt earth bitterness on the finish, along with burnt toast and suggestions of charred cocoa. Very decent stuff.

Bottle from M&S at RMD station drank on the 18.36 train to SNG, 30/03/13. Dark mahogony brown with a medium sized beige head that retains well. Nose carries light roast malt, sugars, touch of chocolate, nuts. Taste comprises dark toffee, dark malt, chocolate, brown sugars. Medium bodied, a little over spritzed in the carbonation front, dry finish. Ok.

Bottled, 500ml from M&S Banbury. Dark brown to chestnut with cream head. This is quite a rich bottled porter, nicely fruity, blackberry or currant then with roasted cob-nut type flavours, some charcoal then some sweetness, licorice. Lasting on the palate, the one let down is a carbonation type tingle. Very decent though.
