Elgoods Brewery, in the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens, has been in Elgood’s family since 1878. To make this special celebration pint, we’ve used fittingly special ingredients: pale ale malt from Westminstet barley grown on the Sandringham Estate, together with an English hop variety called Sovereign that was bred a decade ago to mark the Queen’s golden jubilee.

Bottled, 500ml from Marks & Spencer in Banbury. Amber with white head. This is a sweet, flowery beer with an apricot character, skinny and pippy at the same time. A slightly cloying beer along with some forced carbonation. Heavy in the finish. Not sure.

Bottle. Golden brown with a thin foam. Aromas are weetabix and raisins with apricot and peach. Tea with a nice mix of spices. Earthy ripe apple with traces of lime. Flavours are toffee with ripe, earthy apple and mixed spices. Caramel with some toast notes and dark chocolate bitterness. Apricot with a dry tea finish and a peppery palate. Quite interesting.

Bottled 21/04/13. An orange coloured beer which poured with no head. An orangey citrus like note in the nose. Fruity in the mouth with toffee and chocolate and a bit of spicing. I wasn’t expecting some of these flavours but I’m glad they were there because this was rather good.

DruncanVeasey (7999) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JUN 9, 2012
Union Jack-capped pint bottle. Normally I’d give a bonus point for that. Brilliant amber bronze with an uneven, tenacious white foam. Aroma conjures beef Monster Munch, fudge and aniseed; the taste Devon fudge and Wethers Originals. Fitting considering its intended demographic. However, I’ve got to hand it to Elgood’s here; they’ve produced a beer I wanted to hate with all my heart but find myself thoroughly enjoying; fudge and honey balanced with a rub of aniseedy, tea-like leafy hop; full and persistent body, cask-like feel. Bastards.

Bottle from M&S Bratislava. Very dark golden color with medium off white head. Fruity, malty aroma with hints of honey. Malty, fruity taste with honey, vanilla. Nice bitterness in honey sweet finish. Good, but not bitter.

0,5l bottle. Dark amber color. Medium white head, stays. Good lacing. Malty, sour, toffee in aroma. Toffee, sweet, vanilla, divinity fudge in flavor. Sweet, long lasting vanilla in aftertaste.

berkshirejohn (5950) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 13, 2012
568ml bottle. Amber with a fast fading white head, leaving a rather scummy appearance; slightly musty grainy aroma with a hint of vanilla; more vanilla flavour with some toasty malts; and a short burst of fresh hoppy bitterness to finish. Rather strange.

Beersiveknown (5001) - NORTHERN IRELAND - MAY 8, 2012
568ml (pint bottle) from Marks and Spencer Pours mid amber with thin off-white head and spicy hop aroma. Sweet parma violets at first-unusual flavour followed by a more conventional dry bitter and biscuit malt finish.

johndoughty (4950) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2013
Bottle. Bronze with a trace of vanilla and a hint of bitterness. A well bottled and very pleasant beer.
