The aroma is predominantly cereal but the flavour combines a nice sweet barley malt with noticeable wheat and light hopping. Not as crisp as it claims but this is a very nice lager. Hazy pale gold colour with a white head which retains well.

Bottle from Marks & Spencer, Birstall. Golden-yellow with a small head. Ale texture with really fine lager malts that create a very smooth tasting brew.

Clear straw yellow, decent white head. Aroma of some caramel and wheat. Taste is citrus, caramel with a medium bitter finish. Slightly spicy aftertaste. Refreshing and tasty.

750ml bottle from M&S, Marlow. Straw with a billowing but fast fading white head; grainy citrus aroma; soft citrusy taste; and a clean finish. Rather good, particularly with a curry.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden colour with fairly thin but tight head. Aroma is strong malty sweetness with hint of fruit. Taste to follow, it starts with an almost banana bready sweetness balanced with a slightly tart bitterness. Quite unusual for a lager, and very tasty.

Live Rating. Served cool in a straight pint glass - no frills. Beautiful looking pint. Bright gold with a thin dense white head, leaving lacing down the glass. Honey and new mown hay aroma. Flavours of lemon cheesecake, floral hops, and some nuttiness. Medium bodied, light carbonation. Superior example of a ubiquitous style. Very superior. Benchmark superior. Recommended.

Garrold (1489) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2013
750ml bottle. Clear, straw colour. Thin, bubbly white head. Grainy, lemon, some peach, maybe. Hint of toffee. Taste is malty sweet, then a touch of yeasty sourness. Medium body, light carbonation. Light, bitter finish. Poffed (real word) the lot, in about 10 minutes! Nice beer.

750ml bottle from Marks & Spencer. Rich golden amber, good head. Corn resin malt aroma. Tropical fruit and grain flavour, bitter aftertaste. A hybrid between a golden ale & lager.

Bottle. Pale gold with a bubbly foam. Aromas are cereal with light apricot and lemon. Light nuttiness with dusty, peppery notes. Flavours are sweet biscuit with dry grain and apricot. Mellow lemon with hints of tinned pineapple juice. Dry on the finish.

Bottle from M&S Washington. This pale golden beer pours without any real head. It has slight malty and grassy notes with floral hoppy flavours and toffee, citrus and wood on the finish.
