Some citra coming threw, but falls short of the many other great offerings from both here in the UK and the US etc.

Bottle BBE: 12.15. Well-chilled. Pours a clear, pale amber body with a medium, moderately foamy/creamy off-white head. High-medium intensity aromas of grapefruit, passionfruit, gooseberry, and a little vanilla. A growing, medium vanilla fudge sweetness battles a medium-high bitterness. The body is light-medium, texture is smooth, carbonation slightly below average and the finish bitter. Overall, a delicate nose is overpowered by an in-your-face taste. Not bad, but doesn’t quite balance.

Bottle. Clear golden pour with white head. Aroma is very dull and anonymous. Taste is quite flat with a bit of freshness. Medium carbonation

500 ml bottle bought at M&S in iSquare, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Looks: Clear light golden yellow colour; One quarter finger head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing and notable small, slow carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and sweet Ale malt, with strong lychee, jackfruits, passion fruits, light grapefruit, sugar, floral, honey, and thin grass.

Taste: Close to light sweet fair Ale malt, with strong grapefruit peels, molasses notes, yeast, spices, very strong lime, strong bitter hops and very sharp grass.

Body: Medium body. Very slick palate.

Mouth Feel: fair Ale maltyness in a thick, slightly sluggish body. Citra’s bitterness dominates with strong citrus peels, low sweetness, spices and very limey hops to round. Very good!

Hoppiness: Rich lychee, jackfruits, passion fruits, light grapefruit, floral and honey ion nose. Strong grapefruit peels, strong lime, spices, and sharp grass in taste. Bitterness is very strong for a lasting, very astringent grassy finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Grassy and limey bitter to mouth.

Comments: I almost want to say this is a Citra bomb, well almost. The lychee-lead aroma is strong but not in your face, yet the simple limey fruit peel hoppiness really gets your attention. Very bitter and close to sparkling, a definite joy to have. I like it!

Simple hoppy bitter. A bit watery. Sweetish and a bit dead. Perfectly drinkable, but nothing to grab me.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2015 500ml. In a tumber pint glass . Nose is Gooseberry . Bright zesty grapefruit , sugary lemony ..but a bit of boiled sweet malt too that resembles a low-boost gold in texture . But still a gud nose . Golden but not a Low Boost Gold ! Palate is perfume hops, peach , gooseberry , tangy bitterness , musty woody pencil shavings . notes of boiled sweet like caramel that i could do without ... This is a pretty decent but messy APA .

Bottle from M&S, Manchester. Yellow-blonde with a thin head. The hop is pronounced with a dryness and some tropical fruit notes.

Bottle from Victoria Station M&S. Drank straight from the bottle like a winner. I imagine this one would be clear gold with a decent white head. The nose is full of zesty citrus, grapefruit, sweet lemon sherbet and doughy malts. The taste is crisp, clean, crisp bitterness, grapefruit, lemon pith, zesty, gooseberry, pepper, touch of grass, resin, piney varnish and mild alcohol with dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Crisp and chuggable. Very good train beer.

Strong Citra Hop Aroma - as to be expected. Clear pale golden colour, looks like a lager, moderate carbonation, looks very thin but this isn’t much of a problem. Powerful resinous hop notes, extremely well balanced beer with a real great alcohol flavour - the 4.9% is not hidden well and the beer is all the better for it. A fantastic little brew that is a great thirst quencher, leaves you wanting more.

Bottle from Marks and Spencer, Enniskillen [300415]
Light golden, crystal clear, frothy fluffy white head
Aroma of sweet grapefruit zest, grapefruit juice, dab of gooseberry, light sweet pale fruits
Taste of grapefruit, soft grapefruit bitter zest, soft pale light sweet malts, quite juicy, not complex thought, always like this hop
Palate - Soft carb, medium light body, bit oily. Finish of bitter citrus zest, finish a little gooey, but clean enough
Overall - Milder than the usual Oakham Citra, but it’s one of the best beers M&S do
