The Adnams Brewery has produced its fine beers on the coast of Southwold since 1872. This Summer beer, created by Master Brewer Fergus Fitzgerald, is made using American hops from Washington’s Eastern Seaboard. These hops are famed for their remarkably mellow and un-bitter taste when fermented.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity weak citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity malty weak citrus hoppy caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy finish.

Amber, clear, bubbly white head, slight lacing
Aroma of soft grapefruit, dab of lemon, slight floral, hint of orange, rather muted overall
Taste of soft caramel, some caramelised orange, muted hops, light bitter zest, easy going but a bit bland
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, soft sweet, slight bitter zest. Finish has more toasted malts, some honey biscuit
Overall - Rather dull for Adnams. Average supermarket fare.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the M&S on Oxford Street. Pours perfectly clear gold, effervescent, with a creamy white head. The nose has some lightly ripened citrus fruits, pale bread, rind, pith. Light to medium sweet flavor with pleasant pale, bready malts, nice orange citrus, some tangerine, faint piney hop bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Well balanced on the finish with further bready malt sugars, semi-ripe orange and tangerine, slight rindy and piney bitterness. Nice beer. Very easy drinking.

Bottle from M & S in Eastbourne. Pours out in a deep amber colour with low steady head and medium body. Aroma of mild hops and straw. Taste of bitter hops, light malt, nuts, flowers and grains. Bready hints and bitter finish. Not a bad one.

Bottle from M&S wuston . golden coloured pour with a loose white head. Aroma is rusty penny, caramel grains, mineral, little earthy hop. Stale grains. Flavour is composed of metallic Rusty penny, earthy hedgerow hop, mineral. Palate is semi crisp, little sweet, highish carbonation. Not much to it. Lingering hedgerow hip, and mineral.

Bottle. Clear Amber with short lasting white head. Caramel, blackberries, some yeast, dry cardboard, fruity hops and nice pineapple notes. Medium sweet with light bitter finish. Soft carbonation. Decent beer.

Bottle. Clear, golden colour. Minimal head. Sweet, biscuit malt. Light grapefruit zest. Some citrus. Taste is biscuit sweet, before a light, pithy bitterness. Fresh, clean palate. Light, bitter finish, with some dryness.
