COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Adnams Brewery has produced its fine beers on the coast of Southwold since 1872. This Summer beer, created by Master Brewer Fergus Fitzgerald, is made using American hops from Washington’s Eastern Seaboard. These hops are famed for their remarkably mellow and un-bitter taste when fermented.

Bottled, 500ml from M&S Summertown, Oxon. Clear gold with white head. Initially there is a malty bitterness, but this is very short lived as there develops a sweetish, toffee, fruity note that washes away the crispness. The hop is reasonably pronounced, a little mango like, but the sweetness dominates in the finish.

Light caramel colour with a bubbly fizzy white lacy head. Smell of caramel with strong malt and some citrus hops. Medium creamy body. Malt bitter start with some hop citrus and a sweet caramel middle and a dry finish. As the fizz goes down the body becomes creamy and sweetness more pronounced. The finish is a little harsh with alcohol and bitter hips.

500ml bottle. Pours gold with a thin head. Aroma is pine, sherbert lemon and nutty yeast. Taste is grassy to start. Nutty and grassy finish. A bit flat.

Golden body, white head. Nice resiny hops, some nutty malty notes. Quite balanced, but just not enough happening in my mouth.

Slightly hazy gold, slow carbonation. Peach aroma. Full fruity flavour, oranges, dusty flowers.

Bottle from Fosse. Deep gold with a fine, shrinking foam. Uninviting sherbet-dipped card aroma. Dull and grainy with a faint, regurgitated sherbet, flat buck’s fizz quality. Hints of vanilla and nutty malt on the swallow. Don’t bother.

[500ml bottle, gift from Fe - cheers!] Pale amber with a small, neat off-white head. Lemon aroma. There’s some citrus in the taste too, but it’s tempered by a rather metallic note and cardboardy malt. Dry finish, with little bitterness. It’s OK, but below par for Adnams - you end up wondering if they’ve done a cheap, half-arsed effort for a third party, not realising their name would be on the bottle!

maeib (6645) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2010
Bottled. A copper coloured beer with an off-white head and lacing. Zesty hops in the aroma but with a tinny note. Obvious Adnams house yeast which works so well with some beers but not with others - this is one of the not so well ones. Zingy hops in the mouth. Needs depth of flavour and alcohol. Seemed a little disjointed.

Bottle. Amber gold with a white head. Aromas are biscuit malts with lemon marmalade and oranges. Dusty with yeast and crystallised pineapple. Flavours are sweet, fruity malts with some citrus tang. Dry and fruity on the finish. Decent.

Strong malt flavour with a hint of citrus. Clear amber/golden colour with a thin white lace. Malt flavour with citrus. Rather sweet overall with malt.
