Bottled, 500ml from M&S, Summertown, Oxon. Chestnut with white head. Looks can deceive unfortunately, this looks rich and roasty whereas it proved to be thin and a little wet cardboardy. There is a slight toasted note, but certainly not enough, there is a cabbagey, vegetable hint, boiled grain. I was a little disappointed with this.

Tastes of typical Adnams rhubarb but darker and more malty. Rather thin and lacking depth and interest. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Marks & Spencer. Sickly sweet malty aroma. Dark brown colour with a good head. Sweet caramel malt flavour. Oily texture. Not a good bitter.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear dark Amber with a medium head. Aroma is stewed fruity malt, some apple and yeast underneath. Taste is loads of fruity malt throughout. Some coffee on the aftertaste.

(500ml bottle) Aroma had some malt fireworks ...blasts of dryness and dark fruit covered in syrup. I though this was decent , mellow but respectable ale. Nothing exciting and very old fashioned and repressed in this ever changing world of pulsing craft-beer.

Mahogany in colour with a billowy, off-white head. Aroma of bready malts with a touch of fruit and cardboard. Flavour was sweetish, with solid cereal malts, more (slightly stewed) fruit and an earthy edge, before a moderately bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle from Fosse M&S, chilled. Pours ruby with a patchy beige lid. Some herbal, bay leaf, anise, pecan and trainer aroma right from the off. Beer soft and caramel-accented with hints of aniseed, broccoli and coffee-dunked cardboard. Boring.
