Bottle at home in London - picked up from M&S Whiteleys. Pours totally clear gold with a creamy white head. Grainy pale malts in the aroma, some damp hay, bread. Light sweet flavour with lots of wet grain, some husky bitterness, hay, white bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes somewhat sweet, with yet more grains, some bitter lemon peel, more husk, simple pale bread. A pretty basic golden ale here.

Złote, zamglone. Piana kremowa, średnio pęcherzykowa. Dziurawi się. Opada zostawiając ślady na szkle. W aromacie słodowe, lekko gorzkawe. W smaku przyjemna, wyraźna, ale niewysoka goryczka. Lekko łodygowa. Słody dopełniają smak. Całkiem niezłe. Pozostawia przyjemny herbatnikowo-goryczkowy posmak.

One finger of white, thin head with low retention. Aroma haslight floral notes, malts, straw, caramel. Taste of malts, grass, citrus, straw, light caramel. Quite bitter. Medium thin body, highly carbonated. Not bad for an after-work beer.

500 ml bottle bought at M&S in iSquare, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Clear golden honey colour with thin traces of yeast sediments; One -quarter finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 90 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing and fairly fizzy carbonation; Fragrant aroma of Ale malt, with strong marmalade, tangerine, strong honey, floral, lime and strong sharp grass; Close to light sweet taste of light Ale malt, with grapefruit zest, light orange, strong herbs, molasses notes, thin resins, earth, yeast, spices, lemon, fairly strong bitter hops and sharp grass; Close to light body. Slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is light Ale maltyness in thin body. Light marmalade, citrusy and very herbal hops dominates, with minimal sweetness. Taste like a fairly good mix of Challenger, Brewer’s Gold and perhaps Bullion. Pretty good!... Hoppiness is strong marmalade, tangerine, strong honey, floral, lime and strong sharp grass in nose. Grapefruit zest, orange, light resin, strong herbs, earth and spice in taste; Bitterness is moderate to strong for a lasting, mid-astringent grassy finish; Fairly dry after taste. Herbal and grassy bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one tastes basic, with very subdued citrus and resins, but the Challenger’s fragrant jam and citrus aroma really got my attention, if only it has an equally impressive hoppy taste. A herbal tea masqueraded as Golden Ale. Drinkable.
