3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kramer (3461) - Sunbury, USA - FEB 24, 2011
On tap, pint. Pours a very dark brown, almost black body with a small fizzy dark brown head that quickly receded. The nose is really chocolaty with some roast and a nice English hop aroma. The flavor is very full and robust with just the right balance between sweet and dry for my tastes. Chocolate, dry roasted barley, some light licorice and a finish that has a nice bitterness from both the malt and hops. Rather full bodied and thick with moderate fizzy carbonation, Nice lingering bitterness on the finish. Pretty nice Robust Porter.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 orangesol (323) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Served on-tap at Marley’s.
A - Pours jet black with a nice one finger tall off white head leaving light lace down the glass.
S - Smells of dark roasted grains, coffee grounds, chocolate, and an above average hop aroma. Not too bad really.
T - Starts off with lots of dark roasted grains slowly giving way to a mix of coffee, chocolate, and a surprising amount of hop bitterness. Finish is a mix of dark roast and dulled hop bitterness, lingering on the pallet for some time.
M - Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Dark, roasty feel that never really goes away, lingering on the pallet for some time after consumption.
O - Easily the best beer I had while at Marley’s. Lots of dark roast yet easy to drink thanks to the low ABV. Could have used a touch more flavor but that isn’t a real big deal for me.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bierkitty (51) - Elysburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 27, 2011
MMmmm......thick creamy head of nitrogen giving off a malty chocolatey aroma. Color was almost black and opaque with a bit of clear dark red at the edges as I held it up to the light. Flavor was very chocolatey with a hint of dried fruit, maybe raisins or dates, but finished dry with just enough bitterness to invite another sip. Really nice beer.

Pours black with a one inch brown head. Fairly bland on the tongue until the finish where the chocolateness is released. Doesn’t last as long on the palate as I would like. Not bad.
