2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Gription79 (1576) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - NOV 18, 2012Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. This bottle must be old, there is noticeable American hop oxidoxidization. Very strong caramel , cardboard, slight musty character. Not good, if fresh it would be better, but I do not think it would be great.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 EtTuCthulhu (396) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - MAY 19, 2013
This beer’s appearance combines a cloudy auburn (with distinctive streaks throughout the beer) with a small white head, and the aroma combines scents of honey, floral hops, and toasted malts. The taste fuses a quite bitter flavor with a mildly sour hint, which creates quite an astringently bitter finish; furthermore, the medium body, soft carbonation, and sticky texture make for a pleasant overall flavor.

Wet basement aroma with a slightly better bitter taste.hazy orange hue. Poured out of a bottle to a slightly fizzy head.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 OKplus (355) - Oklahoma, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Serving type: cask
A - A hazy amber/brown color. Off-white head. Spotted lacing.
S - Fruity, roasted malt, sweet caramel dough, muted citrus hops.
T - Subtle earthy hops, woody toasted caramel, mellow dark fruitiness, an old smoky malt drives the boat. The sweetness doesn’t assert but gently complements. Soft citrus bitterness on the finish. A complex set of profiles that’s hard to pick out.
I absolutely love this beer! I’ve had it the bottle version and on tap, but its very good on cask. The velvety texture is creamy and glorious. However I wouldn’t categorize it as an IPA. It is on the lighter side of an IPA. I would rate it lower because of this, but it is such a great tasting beer. It leans close to a Pale Ale. It is an outstanding beer nonetheless.

On tap. Copper with a lasting smattering of cream. Nose is toffee, citrus and toast. Flavors of earthy toffee, citrus, grain and light resin. Near-medium body is balanced and has light-medium carbonation.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 csaso (935) - Missouri, USA - FEB 6, 2013
Bottle - average size foamy head, hazy dark copper color, fair earthy hop aroma and flavor, decent malty backbone, something just doesn’t quite work here - not bad, but definitely not a very good example of an IPA

Not a bad IPA, but slightly more astringent than I generally like. Could use some malt balance, specifically some extra sweetness to balance this out.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 peteinSD (957) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 11, 2013
Bottle from Bob - thanks! Dark, muddy brown pour with some burnt orange hues and no head. Smells like toasted caramel, like char, roast, and maybe some background pine. Taste is a nice roasted malt and toasted grain flavor with minimal pine bitterness and some light malt sweetness in the background. Clean mouthfeel. Very far removed from a modern IPA and seriously lacking hop power but it drinks nicely and makes me think of a minimally hopped imperial amber.

pretty good- very, very bitter and bitey, lingers on the tongue in a nice way. I don’t taste caramel, but I DO taste quite a few earthy notes. my bottle may be newer since I’m from the city it was bottled in :o)

Murky reddish brown color with a quickly dissappating off white head. wet grain with some cardboard hops in the nose. Flavors of hop resin and old grapefruit over a thick caramel sweetness. Long grapefruit rind bitterness and noticable alcohol. There are odd flavors of pennies and cardboard. This drinks like an aged beer. Odd IPA.
