COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Loco Gringo Series — El CuCuy India-Style Black Ale
In Latin American cultures, El Cucuy is an imaginary creature of the dark, similar to the boogeyman, which haunts the minds of children and adults alike. El Cucuy India-style Black Ale features dark roasted notes that sneak up on the subdued caramel malt backbone and the irresistible bitterness creating a harmonious and frighteningly delicious balance. But beware, this beer is dry-hopped providing an intensely vibrant floral and citrusy aroma and at 8.6% abv is not a monster to be carelessly dealt with. Be good or the Cucuy will get you!

This one was well done, I’m so proud that decent beer is being made in my home state. Malty front, citra in the back rounding out a nice hop profile. The most impressive thing about this brew to me is that it has alledgely shown consistency. Well done Marshall, congrats on brewing the highest rated OK beer.

A - Pours black with chestnut edges. 2 fingers of tan head slowly dissipates into a frothy top. Spotted lacing throughout. S - Bright mandarin/grapefruit citrus, green pine needles, caramel malt, salty wood, baked dark bread. T - Candied pine needles, a generous amount of sharp grapefruit citrus, tropical fruits, salty pine wood, toasty caramel malt, pumpernickel and rye bread, brown sugar, hints of dark cocoa, roasted maple. M - Medium to moderate carbonation, full bodied, super creamy. The hops are bursting with flavors of citrus, pine, and seem to be infused with tropical fruit sweetness. The malts are mysteriously amazing. If you closed your eyes you would probably think you were drinking a perfectly balanced roasted double IPA. This is the best in class for this style so far for me, even after a blind taste test. This beer is simply amazing! Serving type: bottle 01-21-2011

Bomber compliments of soonerchamps. Pitch black pour into a tulip. Dark roasted malt aroma, sweet caramel and piney hops. Nice amount of sweetness upfront. Hefty malt backbone mellows into a nice balanced hoppy bitterness. Great specimen of a black IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at a bottle share. Pours a very dark near-black color. Nose is slightly floral, which was a great element. Feels light, with a slightly bitter taste from the hoppiness. Good solid easy drink.

This was well done. Malty sweetness and hops that leave you guessing about what is to come. Very dark, in fact, I couldn’t see through it with a quickly dissipating head. A big mix of flavor with sticky sweetness and burnt malts, some caramel essence and big hops throughout. Syrupy palate. Nicely done.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber, thanks to Bob. Pours dark black. There is a firm cocoa and coffee presence. The hops a pine, spicy, citrusy, resin. There is a big American hop character to this beer.
