4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bottle thanks to unclemike: pours a mostly opaque black with a stringy-lacing light tan head. Has a lightly sweet dark caramel malty nose with lots of fresh resiny hops. Starts with good fullness and sweet dark malts with a healthy amount of crisp piny bittering and flavor hops before a drier bittersweet finish with lingering hop notes. Well balanced and flavorful.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle; Pour is murky brown with a very nice, fine bubbled, two finger khaki head into this glass. It retains well here, with fine cobwebs present. The nose is nice as well ; roasted coffee bean, chocolate malts, and piney hops are present as you’d expect. It works better than some, I believe. I found the flavor profile to be slightly more subdued than I’d like. Bittering pine initial, roasted coffee and chocolate moving forward, with modest caramel rounding it out. A lingering bittering rounds it out - its just lacking heft in the center.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber thanks to soonerchamps. Pours dark brown with a small creamy head that fades to a ring and leave nice oily webbing. Aromas are roasted malt, cocoa, grapefruit and flowers. Taste is very roasty with dry cocoa, lots of grapefruit, and some caramel. Finish is very floral, piney, and bitter to mix with the dark roast and cocoa. Medium to thick body with a very creamy mouthfeel. This is basically a hoppy, thick stout and I really enjoyed it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at the parentals with my dad. Pour is pitch black with a big brown head and great lacing. Big citrusy, lemony, grapefruity, lightly roasty, cocoa, orange peel, and floral aroma. Taste is very hoppy - big citrus, lemon verbena, orange peels, grapefruit - solid malt backbone - cocoa, roast, and caramel - with a big bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel with high carbonation. Really solid black IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A - pours as dark as a porter. Holy black ipa batman. No real head but a little ring of bubbles. S - soft floral and resiny piney hops with a sharp almost rye tone and some sweet malt notes. Almost catty. Simple and thick. M - fluffy carb. Bitter and dry with a sharp bite and lightly sweet end. Quite well balanced. Medium body and nicely round. T - dank hops, centennial hops. Dry bitter resin and grasses are first. A sharp front. The palate rolls to an I identified sweetness. Malty and lightly citrus. The end is bitter and dank. O - easily the best black ipa I've had yet. Smooth and drinkable. Not overly malty or hoppy. And so dark. 3.8

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of fresh pine hops with a bit of grass and a backing dark grain note. Flavor has more of a musty dark grain note with roasted malts, a good amount of pine and just a bit of resin.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark brown, almost black with a foamy white head that dissipates reasonably soon. Nose is of sweet, floral pine. The pine carries through to taste, along with chocolate, caramel, citrus and hops. The bitterness hangs around a bit. Medium mouth with a bit of carbonation. This is a nice black IPA. I’ve been searching for it a while, and it did not disappoint.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
5/04/2011: Marshall El CuCuy India Style Black Ale... Aroma: Chocolate citrus and herbal hoppiness. Appearance: Very dark brown, opaque, dark beige crown. Flavor: Big grapefruit citrus and floral hops, high bitterness that sucks the moisture out of the mouth, dry finish, nice malty base that doesn’t get In The way of the hops, cocoa in the finish. Palate: Medium to medium-full, really smooth and slightly sticky on the lips, oily. Overall: This is super great black IPA, great representation of the style, quite good.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Dark brown body, just a little lighter in color than a lightly colored porter, with a finger of creamy brown head. Lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is sweet and inviting; citrus, pine, light roast, and cocoa. Really what I love about this style... leads to a nice flavor that hits a nice balance of sweetness, roast, and hops. The caramel and pine work together well. A very drinkable ale that really hits the mark on the style. Thanks soonerchamps!
