COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
* McNELLIE’S PUB ALE Inspired by the house ales found in the pubs of Great Britain and Ireland, McNellie’s Pub Ale is a traditional ale brewed in the style of a Best Bitter. Various maltings of two-row barley are joined with American Glacier hops to give this beer its color, complexity, and a bit of a New World twist. The Old World character present in this ale is largely influenced by its yeast, which originates in the port city of Hull, East Yorkshire, England.

Pours a hazy dark copper color with a two finger, frothy beige head that slowly fades into a thick, lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Subtle floral hop aroma with an earthy/ herbal character along with some faint spice and dark malt. Hints of pine an grass along with some carmael, cocoa and toffee. Medium bodied with a decent balance of dry, earthy hops and slightly roasted malt notes. Piny and herbal bitterness but not too dry countered by a sweet malt backbone with hints of caramel, toffee and biscuit. Crisp, slightly bitter finish. Pretty quaffable but not something that I would want to have more than one glass of in a sitting.

Bottle - Strong caramel aroma and color, OK flavor, not quite what I was expecting from a British style bitter, but not bad

Hazy copper-amber pour into thick frothy beige head that quickly dissipates into a ring of melting lacing and swirling bubbles. Aroma of malty straw and yeasty biscuit. Initial flavor of malty caramel that slowly fades into bitter hoppy spice.

Bottle- Pours a slightly hazy bronze color with a good off-white head and lacing. Has a nice fresh grain aroma with some citrus mixed in with a touch of caramel. Starts with a citrus bite then a very light sweetness and a bit of a spicy finish with a nice touch of bitterness. Fairly medium body, nice carbonation, quite crisp and smooth. Easy drinker, good for the style. I would like to try this on Tap/Cask.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2013 Pretty good brew from a very good brewery named after a not-so-good pub in Tulsa, OK.
