3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 OKplus (379) - Oklahoma, USA - MAY 14, 2013
A - Pours a light orange/amber color. Slightly hazed with a brief 1 finger head.
S - Grainy, wet straw, woody, lots of lager yeast,
T - Earthy and grainy dryness upfront, hops are grassy and spicy, sweetness slowly creeps in with notes of toasted caramel. Finishes dry and spicy with hints of orange peel.
M - Medium body, good carbonation, dry.
Great tasting beer but the malt struggles to shine. Nice hop profile and good carbonation.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Stevesie (202) - - MAR 30, 2013
From bottle. About six months old, so freshness might be an issue. Pour is very nice, a rich copper with about a finger of off-white head and lots of activity. Nose is notably metallic, though not necessarily unpleasant. Taste is fairly nondescript. Nice body for a lager, however. Not my favorite Okto nor my favorite Marshall.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 topherh (1861) - Kearney, Missouri, USA - OCT 11, 2012
Pours orange with an off white head. Aroma is sweet grainy malt. Flavor starts malty caramel, then there is an unpleasant bitterness that remains throughout the finish.
1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Caytinator (577) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - OCT 7, 2012
12oz bottle. Smells foul. Little head burns off quick, nothing notable about the appearance. Tastes unpleasant for the style - the worst I’ve had, actually. A swing and a miss for Marshall. I’ll try next year’s, maybe.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bricktop86 (398) - Moore, Oklahoma, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Pours clear light brown with a white head. Aroma of caramel and spices. Taste is caramel and spices with a hop bite. Very good just a bit thin. On par with Sam Adams octoberfest.

Marshall Oktoberfest - Orange-copper with head and lacing comparable to Mother’s Oktoberfest. Aroma, though light, is pleasant and somewhat complex with multiple, deeper whiffs - nutty, malty, and even a tad floral, fruity, and hoppy. Flavor is caramel malty, a tad spicy, hoppy without being overly so for the style, and finishes wonderfully - the bready malts linger and linger like fresh wheat bread. Nomnom!
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - NOV 8, 2011
[Bottle] Pours a bright orange color with about a half inch worth of white foam on top. Sweet caramel, grassy hops and nutty notes in the aroma. Solid caramel backbone. Mild spice comes mainly from the hops. A pretty typical Octoberfest beer. The one thing that makes this one stand out is the solid body and that the sweetness was kept in check. Very sessionable and another good brew from Marshall.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 AmEricanbrew (4868) - Belcher, Louisiana, USA - NOV 2, 2011
Clear amber color/ beige head. Nutty, caramel, earthy sulfer, sweet spicy aromas. medium bodied. Toasted dark bread flavors with lightly sweet caramel, earthy hoppage--probably a little too dry for an O-fest--decent

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2011 2011 Batch - Whoa, NOT the Oktoberfest from last year...unfortunately. Last year’s batch was a 4+, but now I have to re-rate for 2011’s batch and it’s nowhere what last year’s was. Marshall says it’s the same, but I would have remembered such a strong chocolate and coffee taste...mainly because I don’t LIKE a strong coffee taste to my beers. Whatever, I’m just sad it’s not like it was...despite what they say.
2010 Batch - From tap, pours a clear red/orange with medium head and great, heavy lacing. Extremely smooth, light body, easy drinker for sure. A top Märzen for sure. Well done Marshall, well done. 4+ rating
