An American wheat beer with a Belgian inspiration, Sundown Wheat aims to blend the best of two worlds. This refreshingly light beer is brewed with American wheat, two-row barley, and a touch of flaked oats. It is delicately hopped with American Sterling hops and spiced in the tradition of Belgian wit beers, using coriander and dried sweet orange peel.

Aroma is pretty standard for a wheat though nothing really stands out about it. The appearance is cloudy with no head and very minimal lacing. The taste is clean & crisp but I have to admit that this is one of my least favorite styles of beer. It’s medium bodied but no strong presence of any particular flavor. I respect it for what it is but just not my cup of tea.

Pours a hazy very pale yellow with a medium white head...looks like lemonade. Aroma is notably wheaty and earthy with a light fruitiness that reminds me of kiwi and orange. Flavor is also notably wheaty with nice very subtle spiciness...coriander. Mouthfeel is light and very lively yet creamy with a wheaty, slightly dry finish.

Bottle received from Doodler. Pours lightly hazy gold with swiftly rising tiny bubbles, a small, fizzy white head that quickly dissipates and leaves very little lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast fruity esters, straw and wheat malt, orange, and coriander notes. Flavor is light malt, heavy Belgian yeast fruity esters, moderate orange, light coriander, faint hops and bitterness with a thin, dry and spicy finish. Light body, no warmth, medium-low carbonation.

Hazy dirty blonde pour into thick white head that quickly dissipates into a ring of bubbles as carbonated bubbles rise to the top of the glass. Aroma of toasty wheat bread and malty citrus. Initial flavor of lemony citrus that slowly fades into malted wheat finish.

A bit light for a wheat but still a good, solid flavor with a smooth finish.

Draft at McNellie’s in downtown Tulsa. Pours a cloudy golden color with a small, fizzy white head. Aroma of wheat, lemon citrus, pale and bready malts, and straw. Flavor doesn’t add a whole lot to that, just a little yeast and vegetal notes. Light-medium bodied, with soft carbonation and a mouthfeel that starts wheaty and ends a bit metallic and finally dry. Sessionable, if not memorable, wheat ale.
