My Bottom Line:
Citrus fruit galore dominate this IPA’s delicate caramel and honey before resinous moments surge to take control of the finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam laces around the hazy amber-y golden.
-Carbonation is again quite lively here; some breathing makes the pint a smoother drink.
-The hop signature on this one is very engaging.
-Drinkability is enhanced by the overtly citrusy profile.

On tap at the brewpub.

On tap at McKays. Pours a mostly clear gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Sweet malt, light hops, toast and a gentle crispness. There are some buttery notes as well. Medium bodied, lightly sweet. Crisp malt and toast. Easy drinking but not a lot of depth.

draft at Novare Res, Portland. Golden pour, medium bodied. Sorachi was dominant character here. Coconut notes, dill weed, citrusy bitterness. Sorachi was a tad too powerful for me.

(16oz can) clear medium gold, wispy white bubbles. Nose is nice, ginger, spicy hops, grapefruit peel, bitter citrus oils, spicy. Taste is biscuity, malty, like a pale ale with no hops, or maybe more like an ESB. boring.

Can, thanks to JBPortland! Pours clear orange, medium puffy off-white head, creamy with nice lacing. Aroma is citra baby, mango, grapefruit, dank pine needles, butter. Flavor is similar, a bit buttery with tropical fruit bombs, some pine as well. Not sure what the Sorachi Ace is contributing per se, but this is a pretty tasty beer, better than its ratings. Light sweet and light bitter, with no harshness. Medium body and some creaminess. This is tasty.

Draught over the years, most recently at 3 Tides, 7/18/15
Darker copper-amber body is topped by an off-white head that shows low retention, fading to cover quickly. Clarity is high, with a very slight chill-haze.
Light orange, meyer lemon and bits of papaya and other juicy tropical fruits are faint, but pleasant, while caramel and/or crystal malts set in, adding light sweetness and stickiness. Clean yeast and no alcohol or flaws, with a good deal of bitterness but no resin. With warming, more caramel comes forth, with just a touch of buttercream and spicier, grapefruit-tinged hops.
Sweet up front, not horribly so, but with a light cherry note that is the house character of a lot of their ales. Ruby red grapefruit, melons and honey-caramel drizzled atop all are thrown about a lightly chewy body with pinches of light alcohol and a bitter, heavily grassy finish replete with more fruits (cherry, apple, orange, grapefruit). It’s fairly sweet, maybe a bit too much sharp grassiness, but otherwise the hop flavors are delicious and the chewy texture makes it much more of an IPA than pale ale. With the 6.5% abv, I’m not sure why they call it an APA, but it certainly dosent matter.

Can. Shared by czar, thanks! Hazy golden with a frothy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of citrus, fresh cereals, malt, light resinous notes and, like czar said, hints of coconut. Taste is slightly sweet with citrus, fresh cereals, malt, light resinous notes and light bitterness. Light body. Alcohol is completely hidden. Crisp. Moderate carbonation. Refreshing and drinkable. Well done.

Une pale ale avec une structure maltée massive et un profil houblonnée unique de sapin, mangue et verdure. D’une canette à l’autre, j’ai détecté du diacétyl en doses vraiment différentes mais je soupçonne un entreposage douteux, sans rancune.

473 ml can via asheft (thanks!), served cold in a tulip glass. Clear amber with a nice orange-tan head. Rich orange, tropical fruits, sweet caramel malt, more citrus, quite nice. Medium+ body with fairly full carbonation. More juicy, fruity hops, oranges, tropical fruits, caramel maltiness; off-dry with decent bitterness and a long, fruity, caramel finish. Good stuff!
