[my 8,100th rating]
[Bottle #177]
Pours clear darkish amber, looking black from a distance. Small, creamy, off-white head on top. Aroma is heavy nutty, chocolate, slightly sugary and a bit of oaky vanilla. Medium carbonation, fat and oily mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of boozy bourbon, vanilla, some mild oaky dryness, chocolate and light roasted malts. A bit of hazelnuts. Vinious and warming finish.

(22 oz., bottle 203, bottled 12/21/10 from the brewery) Pours dark ruby-brown with a wee beige head. Aroma of sweet bourbon, vanilla, wood, caramel. Mouthfeel is smoooooooth, warm and sticky. Light syrupy film and some dabs of lacing melt away from inside of snifter. Flavor of caramel and warm smoky bourbon. Wood and vanilla and a sort of light buttery richness. Smooth, sweet and seductive. ABV well-integrated, but this feels like more than 8% to me! Very good.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2011 Bomber from Porterhouse! First rating! Thanks tons Kevin for the bomber of an unrated BA Scotch Ale. Bottle # 204 Bottling Date 12/21/10 Nose is oaky vanilla, light bourbon, golden raisin pie, sweetness, and a flowery nectar note. Clear brown with a big tan, lightly lacing head. Flavor is lightly sweet, raisins, a hint of burbony alcohol and vanilla, with some woody oak; finish has a hint of bitterness and a touch of smoke. Excellent stuff! Wish I had a case!
