(22 oz., bottled 12/17/10, no. 380, from the brewery) Wow. Pours very dark brown with some garnet-brown highlights. Quarter-inch of tan head recedes to a thin covering, mostly around the edges. Bourbon and wood up front in the nose, overlaying caramel, molasses and chocolate. Mouthfeel soft, full but not thick, a touch fizzy, a touch sticky in the finish. Light lacing melts away along with a fine syrupy film. Flavor features the interweaving of all the elements of the aroma with assertive bourbon and wood but more smooth and integrated than overpowering. Warming finish with a hit of chocolate on the back end. Tasty, complex and fine.
