COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Different malts than the Sea Level, including chocolate, sweeten this beer to handle the 10 dozen briny Pemaquid oysters used in this beer.

(Draft @ Three Tides) Served in a shaker. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Coffee and chocolate aroma but sort of muted. Mouthfeel medium-full, smooth, maybe a touch chalky. Flavor of coffee and lighter chocolate. Oysters seem to lend a more sour than briny presence and perhaps dampen what would have been roastiness and stronger coffee-chocolate. Enjoyed it more as it was accompanied by food.

On tap at the brewpub. Aroma is a soft dry roast. Flavors are muddled and confused, with a kind of butter stale off malt character. Sadly, I don’t get much crisp dryness from the salinity, which is surprising considering how bring the oysters used taste as I am eating them with this beer.

on nitro-pours a retaining light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/peat/molasses. Taste is dark malt-peat/chocolate/coffee, secondary earthy hops. Dry. Not my taste.

Another fantastic brew from Marshall Wharf. I think it’s the first time i’ve ever had an oyster stout, but I will no longer let the name fool me if this is any indication of what they are all like. This beer pours a dark black with a foamy tan head that recedes quickly. The chocolate malts really pack the biggest punch here, as this stout is very sweet tasting and smelling. It’s nice an smooth, clean finishing stout. This new brewery continues to impress. I need to make a visit soon!
