2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tombyars (1210) - Saltcoats, - FEB 9, 2012First tasted this in Blackfriers, Glasgow in May 1993. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear gold in colour with a thin creamy white head. Dusty hop flowers present in the short aroma. Thin watery moutheel and good lacing. Pale malt base gives a digestive biscuit note with tart redcurrant fruit evident. Dry prickle of citrusy hop resins present in the bitter aftertaste. Finish is slightly malty but weak overall. A below par session bitter.

Cask@Blue Stoops Chesterfield. Pale straw colour with good lacing and a fresh clean taste. Some pale ales are too citrus for my taste, but not this one. i was pleasantly surprised. it has an excellent refreshing taste, especially considering it,s low ABV. It was on good form and served at the right temperature. Worth seeking out.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ALLOVATE (2142) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - AUG 9, 2006
Always good to be the first. Cask, handpump @ the Rook & Gaskill Inn, York, Nth Yorkshire.
Bright, palest gold body, still, with a lasting, thin pad of cream that showed minor frosting on the glass. A touch of honey and raw malt in the aroma, not too pronounced. Fruity and almost medicinal flavours in the mouth. Quite herbal, spicy and piney with those raw pale malt notes coming through. Good balance of sweet malts and earthy, dry hops. Finish is earthy, herbal, lightly bitter, but clean and crisp showing little length. For its pale colour it’s quite a tasty, full bodied number. More suited to late nights at the bar than lazy Sundays in the sun. Quite nice!!!
