Cask; Special - January 2009.
What else than a true classic pale ale to celebrate 175 years of brewing history at Marston’s. Brewed with the famous Burton spring water drawn from Marston’s own wells and traditional Fuggle and Golding hops to give added fruitiness and a spicy high note.

Clear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, toffee, nutty and marzipan notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20081231]

A Mes rate: cask at The Hobgoblin in Baker Street.Clean pale amber with a faint off white head. A typically bland offering from Marstons. Reasonable fruity malt, slight soap and a faint peaty note in the finish. 175 years is a long time. I would have thought it warranted a better celebration than this.
