COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered
Brewed to one of our oldest recipes, using natural Burton spring water filtered through the gypsum beds of the Trent valley to produce a distinctively clear and bright full flavoured beer with a malty, biscuity taste. Although it is one of our session beers in terms of strength, it has a superb balance of malt and hop flavours which makes Marston’s Burton Bitter the first choice for many of our customers.

Shares the name of the now legendary Burton bitter draught which has been consigned to history. Pours well with attractive appearance. You hope for the nostalgia of what you believed it used to taste like and at first found it crisp and refreshing. As I made my way through the drink it’s essential blandness in a bottle is revealed Perfectly respectable unexciting effort that can touch a thirst, but not perhaps the emotions.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s On the smell, maltiness, with touches of fruit On the taste, initial biscuity malt with touches of caramel, or burnt sugar. Then a lightly fruity middle and then back to a biscuity malty finish. Fridge filler.

Pours copper colour with white frothy head which goes quickly. Smell is biscuity malt and a slight fruitiness but hard to tell which. Taste is lightly sweet, quite dry and average bitterness. Rather watery and a bit bland. Below average bitter but drinkable.

Bottle at YHA Grasmere. Dull amber with moderate cream hesd and a light fizz. Bland caramel throughout. Boring and too sweet. Mild grassy bitterness fails to redeem. This is a bit crappy.
