Cask from Bon Accord. Amber with peststant off white head. Slightly vinous aroma, got that Burton sulphury thing going on in the background, with some fruity malt. Good body, with a lasting minerally finish. I’m not a huge fan of Marston’s, these days, but this was interesting stuff.

Mar 1, 2006 Cask: Dark copper in colour. Mildly malty, earthy hops. Another boring bitter unfortunately.

Jan 11, 2006 Draught. Nose is raisins and malt. Slightly cloudy with a fluffy head. Mouthfeel is smooth with a balance of buttery malt and sharp yeast in the flavour. Steady bitter finish.

Dec 27, 2005 They’ve done this beer again this christmas, a warming alcohol percentage to be had on a cold day, certain to let you leave the pub with a rosey nose. Has a christmassy taste.

Jan 1, 2005 Leather Bottle, Cobham. The first beer of 2005. Chrissie and I like to have a long walk on the first day of the year. Starting and finishing at a decent pub. One of our favourite walks is from the charming Leather Bottle in Cobham, an old coaching inn popular with Charles Dickens. This beer was a pleasure to start the walk, and was something to look forward to at the end of the walk. It’s a winter warmer - a sort of weak barley wine. Warming, pleasant and slightly spicy. Yummy.
