COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available filtered and pasteurised in 500ml clear glass bottles. Occasionally available in cask at 3.8%. Has previously been brewed at 5.0% & 4.6%.
The aptly named, "Double Drop", is brewed using just one type of English Barley - Maris Otter - which was harvested from Fuggle Farm in Norfolk. Uniquely, double dropping brings out the full flavour of this one melt, often described as "the king of brewing barley". The double dropping technique allows only the most vigorous yeast to survive and results in a cleaner fermentation process and a fresher, brighter beer. Double dropping involves "dropping" the beer during fermentation from one vessel to another, normally after 24 hours.

500ml Bottle. It pours a thick creamy head over a amber clear body. Its aroma is malty and its taste is along the same lines with a slightly bitter finish. there’s also hints of citrus fruit in there too. Ok but nothing special at all.

It’s hard to be really critical of this one. Bought from a local discount store I didn’t expect too much prior to opening and the lack of any real aroma didn’t raise those expectations any. However, what I found was a clean, easy to drink and ultimately enjoyable ale. Little bit of honey and possibly a hint of pear drops to the fore and maybe some rich tea biscuit. Others will find other subtle flavours but that was it for me. Decent carbonation, if anything a tad on the fizzy side but nothing to gripe about. Decent.

Not bad at all, plus it is nice and cheap to get bottles of this in a store nearby. Nothing specil but definitely a drinkable easy going ale. Mildly hoppy balance with a slightly biscuity malt taste. Definitely above average!

Bottle from work - a prize for being employee of the month (believe it or not). Expected nothing from this, but it’s quite drinkable. Not too stinky winky, but nicely tangy, sticky, honey-hued drinking Bitter. Clean, tasty. Thin, but pleasant.

Watery. A disappointment I'm afraid. I've enjoyed other Marston beers. Not much in the way of depth of flavour. Doesn't smell of very much either.

500ml supermarket beer. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour are dull, and there us a watery after taste.

Appearance: Clear amber with finger thick white head. Aroma: Biscuit, mineral, nutty and peppery. Taste: Medium bitterness, low/medium sourness, low sweetness and slight saltiness. Palate: Smooth thick texture, light/medium body, average carbonation, abrupt malty bitter sour finish. Comments: Tasty and glass lace.

Nice Rounded taste and pallette, gentle in the finish. Good beer to start with. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
