2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Attractive amber colour, almost no head, and a strong vanilla aroma; extremely bitter and a shock in the mouth. Like shoestring I nearly poured it away, but persevered and found it got better.

Veyr attracytive in colour, and the aroma is frutal, then it comes the taste like chocolate, the best Marston’s now.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle version. Not a bad beer at all, but also not a great beer. Got the hint of vanilla and cherry, and found it quite refreshing.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured from the bottle, a very clear amber with a little carbonation evident - only a few bubbles on top for a head. Very strong vanilla and fruit aroma. Taste fails a little, a find the vanilla just a little too sweet and the mouth feel is a bit fizzy. There is a smokiness as well, but there is a bitterness in the finish. I could see a few lager drinkers liking it though.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml bottle from Unwins. Orange colour with thin beige head. Some nice tangerine hop aroma and a bit of sulphur. Then a bit like orangeade in the mouth. I can see why someone likened it to cream soda. It has that cheap soft drink feel to it. There is some hoppy bite on the end. You don’t really notice the alcohol. Bit biscuity, but its the orange fruit for me that dominates. Fine, some juicy malt.

Bottle (from Threshers, BBE Jun 06). Quite pale. Vanilla fruity caramel aroma. Sweet and lifeless with more sweet vanilla. Pretty crap but oddly enough drinkable once I was acclimatised to the crapness.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Tons and tons of vanilla on the nose and in the flavour. Mainly smooth mouthfeel although a tiny bit sharp in the carbonation. Finish turns a bit sharp, but nevertheless carries through with a rich and bitter quality and still more of that vanilla. A bit different, and not too bad.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
The label has a photo of 1930’s workers emerging from a factory - another example of bogus ’heritage’ spin used by brewers. Those people would have despised this brew. While it looks like a decent pint, it smells like the cheap sugary sweets I used to get in my Christmas stocking and tastes like Corona Ice Cream Soda, circa 1959.
