3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From Marks and Spencer's. Nice Burton style IPA. Fruity citric nose, firmly bitter with sulfates evident. Nicely done but burtonising seems to replace flavour with bitterness somewhat. And a touch thin.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from M&S, Den Haag. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is hop malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a nice smooth malt hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A fine session ale if served at the right temperature.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle 50cl. Orange with a rather small offwhite head, which quickly disappeared. Subtle aroma of pilsner! Taste has little citrus and some hops. Not a real bitter finish. Maybe it’s me, but with IPA i expected more.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bronzed golden body with a decent enough and lasting enough white enough head. Not much to the nose, standard caramel and malt echos without actually being anywhere near as citrussy or hoppy notes that the description juts at. Initial taste as a decent zipline of bitterness, gaining speed through a stuttering sweet malt. Mouthfeel is trustingly carbonated but with an annoying oiliness like trying to get Pesto rinsed off Tupperware. Finish is forced citrus bitterness, like it’s been thrown in as an afterthought yet it’s probably been there all along. A laughable IPA, a standard fare bitter.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at home, 16/01/14 from M&S Waterloo to get change for my taxi really ! As M&S Staffordshire IPA.
Pours a clear rich golden amber with a big old off white head, this indeed looks the bollocks and I imagine is the highlight of this beery show!
Nose is bitter orange, light soap, citric sherbets, mineral notes, earthy hops, caramel strains.
Taste comprises bitter orange, earthy hops, straw, light caramel malts.
Medium bodied, fine to soft carbonation, subtle bitterness in the finish.
Surprised at the low rates for this one, there’s really nothing wrong with it, perhaps the M&S bottled version holds up better to badly kept cask servings?!? ESB I’m not so sure, IPA clearly not, golden blonde - a little too high for the ABV, English Pale perhaps?
