Marks&Spencer’s version : Staffordshire IPA. Light amber body headed by a white foam that fades quickly. Aroma of hop, grass, sweet orange; floral. Quite fruity, sweet, round; buiscuity, malty; not dry, not very bitter but body is rather medium than light; finish is a bit metallic. Probably a bit far from what is expected from the style. Anyway I enjoyed it.

A clear dark orange body with a minimal white head. Nose has some earthy and musty hop aromas, as well as some sweet cookies and caramel. Taste is quite sweet and malty with a moderately bitter bite on the finish. Medium somewhat creamy carbonation and full palate. A little boring but a solid english IPA.

As M&S Staffordshire IPA, dry-bitter, light fruit notes, some hoppy spiciness, an excellent EIPA.

From the M&S in Berko. Pours a clear orange/brown with a cream colored top. The smell is toasted grain, fruit, citrus. The taste is toasted grain, caramel, herbal, some citrus ending dry and toasty. The body is light+ with active carbonation. Meh

F: very thin white, quick gone. C: dark gold to amber, clear. A: weak malty, some hops. T: malty, with some like grassy hops, then quite long bitter finish on the palate, more bitter than IPA, but above average beer, medium body, lower carbonation, good beer.

I found this ale in M&S. Quite average, not bad, refreshing. One more positive point of the day. B@H

Fľaša 500 ml z Marks and Spencer, ako Staffordshire IPA. Zlatá farba, krémová biela pena, chmeľová aróma. Vyššia rezkosť, horkasto nasládlý nástup, prázdnejšie telo, pomaly doznievajúca horkosť. Pomerne slušne piteľné pivo.

500 ml bottle as “Marks & Spencer Staffordshire IPA” bought at M&S in iSquare, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Looks: Clear amber colour; One and a quarter finger head and crumpety white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Very good sticky lacing and quite fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant ale malt, with caramel, light molasses, thick bread, dough, light lemon and very strong fresh cut grass.

Taste: Mid to strong sweet rich Ale malt, with strong metallic, sulphur, strong caramel, toffee, faint dark fruits, strong molasses, spices, dry biscuits, dough, strong yeast, strong lemon, fairly strong bitter hops and strong sharp grass.

Body: Mid to light body. Slick and creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: Wholesome Ale maltyness with strong caramel flavor, slick and smooth. Strong metallic, sulphur (Burton water?) and spices really make things interesting. Not much fruity taste but the toffee and molasses pretty much fill any void. Biscuity and lemony as hell. Lovely!

Hoppiness: Light lemon and strong fresh grass in nose. Strong lemon, spices and strong fresh grass in taste. Bitterness is progressively strong as beer warms for a lasting, strong astringent bitter-sweet finish.

After Taste: Dry; Nice strong bitter and sweet to mouth.

Comments: The Burton water plays a significant role in amplifying its grassy hopiness, but it’s the wholesome maltyness, strong caramel and smooth dry palate really impress me from the get-go. Colourful, bold and bash all the way, a highly enjoyable ESB!

(Marstons India Export) Bottle 500 ml shared with vipinvelp, thanks! As Marks & Spencers Staffordshire IPA) Light amber colour on the body, white frothy head with average retention, good activity in the glass. Aroma of caramel, citrus, light toffee. Taste follows, light citrus, caramel, toffee and floral notes. Medium thin body, good carbonation. More like a bitter but good.
