stravale (2420) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - MAY 8, 2015
Bottle from Marks and Spencer, Enniskillen [040515]
Amber, clear, frothy white head, some lacing, dissipates to thin layer
Aroma of soft minerals, soft fruits, dab of zest
Taste of caramel malts, soft bitter minerals, hint of toasted malt, slight marmalade, some caramelised orange, some soft zest does counterbalance the minerals
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, quite rich. Quite sweet. Finish of caramel, soft fruits, dab of bitter hops
Overall - Not a fan of these mineraly beers, but this wasn’t too bad. OK. Didn’t find it as bad as other reviewers here

500 ml bottle as M&S Staffordshire IPA. (Marks & Spencer) Gatwick Airport, England.
Clear deep amberish golden colour with a small head. Sweetness, malt, mild bitterness, mild floral hops and some cereal dryness in the aroma. The flavour is quite mild with sweetness and maltiness. Very typical English style IPA.

Bottle at home. Clear golden pour, white head. Aroma of English ale, slightly grainy, some murky hops and a bit of caramel malts. Flavor is slightly bitter, watery and with some solid caramel malts. Simple and a bit off.

Kita (1365) - Koper, SLOVENIA - FEB 13, 2015
Bottle, 0.50l. Clear deep golden color with medium frothy white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of cereals, grassy hops, mild citrus and some toffee. Taste starts with light sweet caramel and toffee, follows by mild fruity and bready acidity, mouthfeel is crisp and dry with chalky feeling and moderate bitter finish. Medium body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Nothing special...

Beese (2560) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2014
50cl bottle from M&S. Poured a dark golden, with a white head, which dissipated to nothing. Aroma was very light, some leaves, earth and citrus. Honey in the flavour, with some spruce and biscuity malt. Finish was crisp, but nothingy, just a little residual bitterness.

To be considered - this is not an IPA as "per se" for the American standard that stands today. It is an English India Export beer, that has been been brewed using the recipes of old English India Export beers - caramel malt, plenty of hops, clear spring water and a special strain of English ale yeast. This is a traditional English IPA, not the American variant and it is a good one at that. Very nice medium roasted caramel malts, moderate bitter hops...it is a well balanced brit-beer.
