Bottle. Tried as Marstons Ginger Beer. Orange and clear with a powerful spicy flavour. More body than I expected. A novelty beer not to be taken seriously.

500ml bottle at home, from Morrisons, Ayr (as Marston’s Golden Ginger Ale), potent ginger aroma, golden brown, no head, sweet root ginger, fizzy with a hot spicy aftertaste

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Morrisons. Like a non alcoholic ginger beer. It’s light clean no bad flavours even some stem ginger bite on the finish. Fine. But not very beery.

1.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle from Morrisons, Byker, Newcastle. Golden coloured that pours without any head. It has a sugary sweet ginger flavour, spicy, fiery ginger on the burning finish! Very much an alcoholic ginger beer rather than a beer with ginger.

2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: OCT 28, 2014 50cl bottle of Marstons Golden Gingeer Beer from Morrisons, Bracknell. An amber pour with a brief fizz and absolutely no head; ginger aroma; pungent ginger flavour with a touch of citrus; and a fiery finish that certainly clears the tubes. It’s not clear from the deScription if this is a real malt beer with added ginger; or if it’s an alcoholised ginger beer. I suspect the latter.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle from Morrisons. Pours hazy golden amber, no head. Aromas of dried ginger, ginger cake. Taste is sweet, a little ginger heat. Kinda like a soft drink to be honest. Gassy.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
’Golden ginger beer’ from Morrisons- no mention of Loveday’s on the bottle but presumably this. Not a looker: headless murky brass. Pungent sugared root and crystallised aroma moving into an itchy, judiciously spiced burn of ginger on the palate. Lingers with burn and the tackiness of sugar on the lips. Effervescent. Not a trace of house vanilla, minerality or drainpipe. Heavily sugared but almost too spicy. Bonus point. More ginger beer than beer. Ridiculous but kind of enjoyable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Bottle) Very slightly hazy golden with small white head. Pleasant but restrained authentic ginger aroma with earthy notes. Palate his light syrupy texture with fine bright carbonation. The taste is a little bit on the sweet side, however it pretty well balanced by assertive ginger flavour and some other spicy earthy notes. Overall a very good ginger beer, if a little sweet.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured a bright and clear golden amber colour with a two finger white head that diminished quickly and did not lace. Low carbonation. Aroma dominantly of ginger with subtle malt undertones. Taste initially bland followed by moderately spicy ginger. Light body (watery). Short gingery finish. More like a beer with ginger than a ginger beer.
