Old Empire is brewed using Optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggles hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

Bottle from Tesco, Langley Moor, £1.99/500ml. Pours golden with medium white head and obvious carbonation driving a light, grassy aroma. Overhopped and overly bitter, Too dry in the mouth.

Clear amber pint with a thin bubbly head and a sour, malty aroma. Flavour is likewise. Thereís actually a quite unpleasant sour, bitter, chemical or metallic taste to it. Not enough to completely overwhelm the fruit and hop and render it undrinkable but enough that itíd deter me from going back to it by choice. Which is a shame because I think thereís a nice, refreshing beer lurking in there somewhere.

This Has to be my fall back Ultimate experience, of the dozenís upon dozenís Ivíe tried, this is the holy grail of Ale. With a classy Eye Catching Bottle design, I always leave it 2 days in the Fridge, on the nose a light, fresh, honey aroma, highly citrus and ripe, pours a divine, Honey Amber, looking like a good scotch, with a fine head. Initial taste is admittedly mild, and rather mediocre, but itís complex yet elegant mouthfeel, quickly itís deception unfoldís into a sublime elixir of Malt, Toffee, lemonís and Faint apple, exceedingly Ripe, crisp yet boldly graceful, post swallow an after taste reminiscent of spice and biscuit, and a long, satisfying refreshing lingering, that leaves you begging for more. Almost not a beer, but a masterpiece of art, craft and perfection, a very rare 5 for this special number.

Bottiglia da 50 cl. Color ambrato leggero con schiuma media di media tenute, profumi di cereali, caramello e un fine agrumato che si ripresentano al palato con un leggera carbonazione e un amaro appena accennato.

0,5 Bottle. Gold amber color with thin white head tha disappears. Little fruity (citrus) aroma that disappears quickly. Nice Hoppy bitter kick witch is the main character of this beer. Nice carbonization. Leaves mouth dry.

50 cl bottle from our monopoly. First of all it was bitter disappointment to notice that this has nothing to do with IPA. Nose is grainy and alcohol. Palate lager like but more alcohol and taste, which is not that good. Really bad for a "special brew".

31.5.2014. Malty, floral aroma with hints of bitter. Easy to drink, mild carbonation, caramel malts, some citrus, some biscuits, slightly bitter finish. Not IPA as it says on the bottle.

Bottled. Clear amber colour with a good sized, foamy head that disappeared quickly. English hop aromas, with straw, some apple, and malt too. A sweet start and a drier, malty middle and end. Good body.

Bottle from Sainsburys Team Valley. Pours dark orange colour. Not much life to the appearance. Metallic tinge to the flavour which is a little overpowering

I found it as "Marstonís Old Empire True India Pale Ale". 100% clear golden beer with fair white head. Quick retention. Very pale aroma. Paper hints. Some bubble gum. Medium to high bitterness and maltiness. Bitter finish. Maybe a bit of hops Sticky texture, full body, moderate carbonation. Well, itís not IPA for sure and I have no idea why they wrote IPA on the label.
