COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Old Empire is brewed using Optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggles hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

500ml bottle. Skunk and light fruit and citrus aromas. Pours pale gold, clear, with a creamy white head, persistent, with poor lacework. Light body, soft carbonation, smooth texture. Taste is slightly bitter, some fruit, a bit watered down, lacking some more body and hop character. Aftertaste is dry bitter. Reminds me of Skol or some other lagers (yes, mainstrem lagers !!) such as "Aguila Negra", an extincted brewery from NW Spain. I did not enjoy this one at all, sorry.

Not much aroma. Your Midland’s murkiness is present - machinery, bottling plant, rain on pavements - but not in an exciting way. Bitter finish. I’d neither seek it out or turn it down.

The aroma is initially skunky, then malts and fruit. The flavor is grainy/bready malts, undertones of fruit and a mild bitterness in the finish. Not a bad ale but the clear bottle really hurt the aroma and flavor.

Bottle. Amber colour. No head sweet hop flavour. Not very nice beer, one I will stay away from.

Bathory (360) - Bryne, NORWAY - NOV 8, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 19, 2012 At the only proper beer pub in Granada, Spain, called "Dakota". Pours a golden colour with a small white head. Aroma are mostly malts, some yeast and citrus from the cascade. Flavour are spruce, citrus and some hay maybe. An okey beer, maybe a bit dull though.

500ml bottle. Golden amber colour, foamy head which dissipates leaving some lacing and a malt bitter hop aroma. Fizzy sharp bitterness with malt taste, leaving a tangy lingering dry bitterness. Medium bodied, OK.

Bottle from the supermarket. Clear straw pour with a thin white head. Weak, but fruity, hoppy aroma. The bitterness dominates the flavour and heads right for the palate. I’m not sure the combination of hops produces the most pleasing flavour, but it’s certainly a refreshing session ale that I enjoy drinking. I’m surprised it’s rating isn’t higher.
