COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Old Empire is brewed using Optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggles hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

Bottle. Clear amber color with a thin foamy white head. Hoppy, although a bit too processed aroma. Taste is better than aroma but it still doesn’t feel much like an IPA. Not enough bitterness for me.

Bottle, rated from backlog. Clear golden with white head. Aroma is malty with faint grassy hop notes. Taste is malty sweet with marked, but not high, bitterness.

Bottle. Just ticking a drink from a while back. Quite good although nothing mind-blowing.

Bottle from Sainsburys. I’d completely forgotten I’d had this from the cask previously. Clear bottle. Light golden colour. Some of that typical Marstons sulphury initial aroma. Initially malty. Thought it was a bit bland but as progressed through the bottle got to grips with a definite but restrained bitter hop character. Old school English IPA, tasty.

With thanks to my mum. Appearance: golden caramel, slightly hazy, proud white head. Aroma: skunky, grassy as hell, weed, tons of caramel, can smell it from an arms length. Flavour: bitter, butter, caramel, again a crazy weed flavour, such fresh grass. Long bitter grassy finish. Not sure what I think.

Decent looking beer with creamy head, light aroma of hops, pine, citrus. Taste is hoppy with a hint of citrus(grapefruit/pineapple) and an abrupt finish, kind of dry. the citrus tang keeps it interesting. Not as bas as I thought after some of the reviews below.

Light yellow beer with ok head and leaves nice lacing. Scent resembles more bitter than IPA, more sweet than hoppy, not good thing for my IPA. Strange IPA, at first its a bit lager-like buttery, then some bitterness but very little. I get the same effect in my mouth after drinking some gray tea... A little disappointment.

Clear and golden. It says India Pale Ale on the bottle but you could not tell that from the aroma. Just the slightest hop aroma. Taste has a bit of sweet malts and bitterness but that’s it. Drinkable though.

oa english IPA tradicional. Cor vermelho escura, com baixa formacao de espuma e aroma cítrico de lúpulo. No paladar, corpo médio, com bom equilíbrio entre o malte e o amargor do lúpulo. Final seco e amargo. Boa cerva. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a beautiful hazy orange with a thin layer of white foam that laces nicely. Nose is subdued with mellow sweetness acconpanied by a fresh citrus note. Hops and grass are also found. Taste is quite bitter with with some underlyibg maltiness. Has a long bitter finish. Nice old classic style IPA.
