COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Old Empire is brewed using Optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggles hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

Date tasted: July 7, 2013... Glassware: Wychwood Hopbgoblin tumbler... Occasion: celebrating a lazy Sunday’s end....Appearance: nice pale copper body that is clear and softly bubbling; cloudy white head that laces and quickly dissipates... Aroma: bready malts assert dominance--such an English treat--with some buttery notes... Palate: medium-bodied, smooth and buttery; some heat on the exhale,, despite the modest ABV.. Taste: extremely soft hints of toffee and hops; powerful display of malt high on the tongue; formidable... Overall: a curiosity purchase, using a gift card for a slew of brews including this one; I know Marston is renown for its bitter, and thought the IPA would carry the flag; malty , yes, and a quality sipper with a slightly smoked, buttery, definitively scotch finish....still, tough to place among the more formidable IPAs from either side of the pond....

Amber, almost clear, very small white head. Medium body and carb. Nose is led mostly by English hops, with their earthy hedgerow notes, and there is a hint of citrus as well. Hops play second fiddle to caramel malt. Very drinkable.

Recuerdos a hierbas y cítricos.

Color ambar medio. Aroma citricos, malta y té. Sabor complejo. Primero dulce, luego muy amargo, que persiste en la lengua medio minuto por lo menos. Recuerdos a hierbas y cítricos. Potente. Probablemente canse si no está fría. Pero es buena cerveza.

A bit cloudy, nice colour, one-finger slightly off-white head, nice lacing. Not much aroma, but the hops may have died down a bit, suspect my bottle to be a bit old. The taste is dominated by crystal grain-ish caramel/toffee notes, and a slight touch of honey in the aftertaste. Medium carbonation and mouth feel. Good beer indeed, but not my favourite.

5.7% ABV. Light head. Nice beery nose with a nice malty hints. Nice light first mouthful. Carbonated and with just enough malty beery goodness to be satisfying. Sharp bitter hoppy finish comes quite quickly and sits on the palate with arms crossed and a smug look on its face. Good ale. Gelak after 500ml, I start to get that refluxy feeling. Ok, but not going to make it to my favorites list.

Easy drinking bitter says IPA on the bottle but its very subtle some mild marmalade taste but noihing else to suggest that aside its very drinkable and in no way offensive would like to try the cask version.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale amber colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of floral hops, pale malt, subtle caramel, a little lemon and grass. Taste of pale malt, grain and herbal, grassy, floral hops. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation but a watery texture. A dry, floral bitterness in the finish. Very disappointing from the bottle, way better on cask. Not an IPA all. Lagerish taste and too watery.

Tolle Farbe: helles Bernstein.

Rather bland esb/ipa, for its abv I was expecting more depth of flavour, tastes like a cask bitter to me.
