COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Old Empire is brewed using Optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggles hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

Not much aroma. Your Midlandís murkiness is present - machinery, bottling plant, rain on pavements - but not in an exciting way. Bitter finish. Iíd neither seek it out or turn it down.

500ml bottle, 5.7% BB July 2016. Clear dark amber orange, lightly sparkling, small foamy white head. Aroma is damp face cloth, barley malt syrup, soggy biscuit. Body is medium, rounded, soft carbonation. Taste is spicy hop-forward, a little metallic, thin sugary malts, floral bitterness. Certainly very drinkable and pretty enjoyable, although itís a bit one-dimensional.

Bottle 0.5l. Pours clear golden color with medium frothy off-white head, lacing. Aroma of mild caramel, grassy hops, citrus and a bit dusty. Taste starts with light sweet toasted and grainy malt, follows by herbal and citric acidity, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium body

50cl bottle. Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Nose - grapes, apples, biscuits. Taste - green apples from start to finish. Maybe a little lemon and biscuits. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - an enjoyable ale.

Supremely good bottled ale from one of the originals! Although paler than most of itís kind (ironic for an IPA). It has a very fruity & fresh aroma and a clean, mild vanilla and cloves after taste. It has malt and a laid back but refreshing bitterness that makes it a fantastic summer pint. Sampled during a BBQ with some decent pulled pork and chilli burgers. Really satisfactory palate cleansing pint. Mainly caramel and biscuit notes on the taste buds that are never "overly sweet". Really good beer; not heavily carbonated.

Hazy orange. Moderate head. Modest aroma of caramel, butter. Earthy notes. Medium body. Bittersweet taste. Well rounded. Hoppy finish.

Clear golden-amber colour with a small light creamy beige head. Light biscuity aromas, bit herbal and hints of floral-grapefruit. Lightly carbonated lightly slick with a medium body. Balanced malt sweetness profile with some fruity notes. Light dry finish.

Almost clear pale amber colour with a thin white head. Malts, light caramel and grassy hops in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium to light body. Taste is light with some sweet notes and dry hoppy finish. Overall, a disappointment far from a good IPA.

Amber, almost clear, very small white head. Medium body and carb. Nose is led mostly by English hops, with their earthy hedgerow notes, and there is a hint of citrus as well. Hops play second fiddle to caramel malt. Very drinkable.
