Intensely rich. Very nice beer. Fruity and strong flavour. Not much alcohol. Very tastey indeed. Lovely mouth feel.

Alengrin (1330) - BELGIUM - AUG 24, 2014
Strong ale (or rather an old ale?) with sticky, light beige, creamy head and dark bronze colour with ruby hue, clear. Aroma of grassy and peppery hops, chocolate, lots of vanilla, candi syrup, caughing candy, pear, coffee liqueur. Soft fruitiness, malty caramel and chocolate, relatively light mouthfeel in relation to its strength, gentle hops in the finish with a bit of cloying sweetness. Very good and I would not be surprised if this improves significantly with ageing.

Absolutely solid performer. Almost a Stout beer - and definitely full of malts. I love this beer, the strength almot undiscernible due to the quality of flavours..

500 ml bottle, poured into a pint. Color is black-reddish. Large head that stays a while and leaves a thin layer. Aroma is roasted malt and booze. Taste is also dominated by roasted flavors and also a hint of liquorice . Not as boozy as the aroma suggested. Body feels medium and is well carbonated. Overall this is an interesting beer. Very drinkable at itís 7.4 ABV.

Dark with not much head. Sweet malts with forest fruit flavours. Smooth mouth feel, remarkably drinkable for its strength.

Beese (1668) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 18, 2014
Bottle from Tesco (I think). Poured ruby with a rapidly dissipating off white head. Sweet, malt heavy aroma with some sticky fruit and cream soda. Initial flavour is dates, burnt sugar and chewy grain. Finish was far more alcoholic than one might expect for the strength and quite sickly sweet.

500ml bottle from supermarket. Dark, almost black coloured, no real head. Aroma of dried fruit. Flavour is sweet malt, and dried fruit. Not sure if this 7.4% is now the norm, but a good beer all the same.
